I guess it was a fairytale too far for Bobby fvckin Reid to get on the scoresheet lol

Regardless, a massive three points in the circumstances that finally puts a small bit of daylight between us and the bottom three after a torrid few weeks. Lovely to see some direct attacking threat from us, our right hand side remains a bombscare and was once again the source of much of the 31 (!!!) shots we faced.

Amazing to see a manager make proactive changes at sensible times in the game too. Daka gets half an hour instead of ten minutes and we get that display - awesome stuff. But Kristiansen, Soumare and Bilal the real contenders for MOTM, plus Mads but at this point we're so bad defensively that it's a standard performance for him to pop up with 3-5 game-changing saves. 😬

Wasn't pretty but it was exciting. I still expect absolutely nothing from Brighton at the weekend, but this was the one we needed to win this week, so if we get even a draw we are absolutely cruising all of a sudden.

Soumare and El Khannouss were so good tonight, Kristiansen, Ndidi, McAteer, Coady, Vestegaard also brilliant, Hermansen was Hermansen. We are not a good prem team, that is as good as it is going to be for us realistically this season, ride the opposition momentum and hit fast. Set up was as good as it’s been in a good while, and the proactive subs whilst ahead after 60 was so nice to see

The massive difference was how constantly good we looked on the attack and always made them think about that. Yes we were shit defensively again but we probably have to expect that until January.

Under Cooper we would have possibly gone 1-0 up and then just sat in for 80 minutes and lost 1-3

We aren't going to go and sign Van Dijk in January either so it might be a case of sucking up performances like this all season.

I thought the defence improved second half. Maybe, with a bit better organisation, our defenders aren't quite as bad as we all thought.

Yeah do you know what, we weren't great for large parts of that and a better team would have beaten us. But we would have 100% lost that tonight under Cooper and we didn't. We actually had some attacking intent for the first time in months. We aren't going to suddenly become a changed team in a few weeks but it gives us hope.

P.s. Faes you are shocking.

Again, if Van Nistelrooy can get these guys to play the top of their game, we should stay up.

If we get some good signings in Jan and the Summer - next season could be truly amazing.

(Yes, I realize I am getting ahead of myself- and the team's self... but still.)

Thats counter attacking for you :)  Brutally effective when done right.

That scoreline doesn't tell the full story, but in all fairness, we had Mads in top form today, both keepers were. It felt like it would be a long match after we scored and West Ham took control.

But they were wasteful and we were clinical. That's what separates the sides today. Great start, much to improve defensively but we made our few chances and little possession count. Couldn't say that under Steve Cooper.

I thought the defence was shocking the first half, and improved the second half.

My real concern is our passing: It was horrendous most of the time and not even Championship level. But I am sure Van Nistelrooy knows this. The players are better than they have been playing, even if they won't be challenging for Europe.

If Van Nistelrooy can even slightly improve these two areas, we will be safe.

(In other news, I am starting to feel much better over the past few months and might even try to see if I can make the FA Cup game. We will see...)

Aggression, some energy and desire, that’s all I wanted to see tonight and got plenty of it. Still lots to work on, Mads kept us in the game first half, but it’s nice to come away having enjoyed a game for the first time in ages.

You could see a structure to the side off the ball (woefully lacking under Cooper) and a plan of attack going forward. El Khannous motm for me. Aggressive, quick feet, took his goal well. Best performance from

him so far. Everyone worked their socks off. A shame to loose the clean sheet. Need to work on how many shots we concede, Brighton won’t be so forgiving! But overall a great nights work. RRRUUUUDDDD 🦊

Good start for RvN.

Obviously things still to sort, mainly passing to our own players and general ball retention.

Soumare, Coady, Kristiansen, BeK very good.

Daka’s goal reminded me of Hurst in ‘66 - ‘they think it’s all over…it is now!’

RVN has brought in a bit of his winning mentality to this and we played a bit like Man Utd with our forward attacking intent.

Before the game I wrote that it would be great if RVN can teach the players how to pass forward into space with the right weighting for players to run into. We see a lot more of this.

We still have players who when put under pressure just hoof it up turning over possession straight away. Most notably Justin and Kristiansen. So if we want to improve this, we need another ball playing midfielder to help them out - one of Winks or Skipp to replace Ndidi to partner Soumare. I think Soumare can go on from here under RVN. I know some of you think Ndidi is still ok - but it is a choice we need to make: do we rather have a half decent destroyer to help the defence OR have a player who lacks ball skills who constantly pass back and put otheres under pressure so on the whole we end up being constantly under pressure like we have seen. The choice is clear to me from years of watching us.

But I like how RVN finally started more attacking players at the top so we can string a few passes together in the final third.

Great signs under RVN today.

I think the positivity towards Soumare is overblown.

We conceded so many shots I don’t actually think the midfield two were set up well, Wilf just recovered brilliantly.

They were passengers tonight with the ball too. Winks and Wilf will be fine, but would’ve liked to have seen Skipp bought on for Bouba.

Was the only real negative for me tonight, great win.

Just decided to watch the game back, everyone’s new favourite term 3-box-3 was clearly evident throughout the game, with 4-4-2 being the setup when out of possession.

First half if it wasn’t for Hermansen we could have been 2-3 goals down. West Ham had so much joy through our midfield and down our flanks. I thought the duo of Vestergaard and Coady looked pretty assured, but the four of Justin, Kristiansen, Ndidi and Soumare were getting pulled apart left, right and centre. Their ability to track runners was so poor in the first half.

Going forward the effort was there, but we just couldn’t get out and sustain attacks, apart from a couple of El Khannouss and Vardy link up combos, attacks were just breaking down far too easily, mainly through a lack of quality from Buonanotte and McAteer.

Second half the little tactical tweaks especially putting El Khannouss central worked a treat. I also thought defensively through the middle of the pitch, Soumare and Ndidi looked far more compact and won a fair few duels. It felt like most of West Ham’s attacks were focused down the right side, Kristiansen defensively was getting beaten far too easily throughout most of the game.

Kristiansen going forward though despite his limitations actually produced some excellent passes, his passing range in behind defences could be a real asset for the likes of Vardy, Daka and Mavididi.

The two standouts for me tonight though were El Khannouss and Coady. El Khannouss both from a creative perspective and a work rate perspective was excellent, exactly the type of performance I’ve been hoping from him.

As for Conor Coady, that was quite simply his best performance in a Leicester shirt imo.

Still plenty to work on, especially defensively, but from a work rate perspective I can’t fault the players tonight, they grafted superbly.

Ha ha, 30 shots, most West Ham have ever had in a Premier League game.

One of the most ridiculous games I’ve seen, but be all and end all is take the points and build on it.

Fair play especially to those who came in and made a difference:

Another stat worth noting - It’s also the most shots by a losing away team in a Premier League game since November 2010 (Chelsea, 32 vs Birmingham).

Obviously buzzing with the result, not forgetting that Ruud has had what 48 hours with the group but a reminder for how easily our midfield (particularly first half) was played through.

Still don’t overly like the Wilf/Bouba pairing, will be interesting when Winks is fit what Ruud does.

Collectively the midfield was bollocks; it is they, not the defence that allowed 30 shots on goal.

Say what you want about the way we played, but without Hermansen's heroics we are as good as gone.

We still conceded too many shots, but we played with a plan and more urgency than before.

The 2nd half was also a big improvement because we conceded half the number of shots compared to the first.

Thought Ndidi, Mads and El K did well.

We beat a very poor wham side.

Great to see some attacking play rather than the sh2t we have all season.

Imagine if we had signed Bowen, him n vardy would be sensational.
