Have thought the criticism of McAteer has been rather harsh.

 

Lads played well when he came in. First half vs Brighton he looked like the most attacking player. 
 

Against fullbacks who push on he'll be more effective than Bounanotte.

He’s definitely a trier and gets into good positions. It’s just his end product has so far been terrible and he can’t beat his man and get the ball in.

In fairness, Facundo was pretty awful last time out. I imagine he'll be on off the bench, will hopefully be back to his old self and then he'll start next time.

Buonanotte has a habit of giving the ball away in bad areas especially in our own half, if it was a home game he would play

 

But we are away and have a weaken DCM area, so I can understand him going a little more conservative.

You can pick up you like, but having your team organised should be a given.

I was surprised to see him get called back into the first team initially, but against West Ham he was effective on the counter and got an assist. 

 

Not bad for a lad who's still learning to get up to speed with the Prem.

Alves’ competition is Facundo/Reid/Ayew

Alves clearly doesn't deserve to be ahead of anyone on the bench. That's why he's not in the squad.
