I get this, but literally what is the point in having Choudhury or BDCR or Thomas on the bench, could easily find place for a couple of youngsters on the bench and still also play a strong first 11, they aren't mutually exclusive events, both can happen

If you need to bring a sub on, then you want to bring as good a player on as possible. Youngsters shouldn’t just be given minutes when they aren’t ready.
Most of our best youngsters went out on loan.

The poor form we are in we need some confidence and a morale lift in these players. A win would be huge lift just to remind them what it feels like to win. Recently he has been reluctant to start all three FB, El khanous and Mavedidi today he can actually see how they play. The only change I would have liked is seeing Okoli instead of Coady. Also wouldn’t have minded seeing a replacement for JJ but no options. I want to see a win and a style of play today.

Maybe doesn't rate the available youngsters?

This has been such a waste of a season for Alves!  He has hardly even played any football for the under 21s, because he has been training with a first team squad, that for the most part, he hasnt even made the bench for, and then when he has, has hardly been given any minutes to make an impression.

Certainly if I was Alves, I would seriously be looking to move on now, because if he is not injured today, and he can't even make the bench for this game, then he has next to no chance of playing again this season, and is clear that he isn't deemed as good enough.

Time for him to find a club that want to use him, and for him to try and prove himself

Think you need to come off the Alves bandwagon. Perhaps he's just not good enough, and his injury has set him back. Look at JJ!

The way things are going for us at the moment, I wouldn’t be surprised if we struggle to get over the line against QPR, it goes to extra-time, and we end up with an exhausted starting line-up going into a season defining week for us.

Alves being sold?

Would not be surprised to see him go on loan, ideally we strengthen on the wings anyway.

No issue with the squad at all, we need momentum and hopefully battering a championship team could provide a bit of a boost (Incoming 2-1 loss) but the fact Ruud has gone out of his way to talk about Monga recently, surely this would be a perfect opportunity to get him on the bus and onto the bench even if he doesn't plan on playing him. And where the hell is Alves? Why does he keep being overlooked?

With the amount of posters saying how playing our best team could be important for a win to get some confidence and perhaps motivation, it got me wondering whether we have a sports psychologist employed at the club? I know quite a lot of the back room team were let go when Rodgers came in, and I am sure we used to have one but thought someone on here may know more.

If not, I think it could be a huge help.

With this team out how bad are we going to look if they beat us ffs.

No excuses Ruud.

Not really Ruud's fault if this side - arguably our strongest and most creative - loses, is it? It'll be a fair reflection of our squad, whatever happens

We don’t want to lose this and there would be no shortage of moaning if we went with an under strength side and exited the cup at this stage . ( I don’t really get the Alves derangement syndrome - I can’t believe he’s been held back if he’s really up to playing in the 1st team )
