Stick him in the first team like Nwaneri was at Arsenal. If hes that good get him on instead of the shitdonkeys clogging up the bench...

This is it. We are losing games anyway, So just throw him in and see how he's get's on. If he's good enough he'll show it quickly if not we haven't lost anything.

Other than ruin a 15 year olds chances of developing as a pro and the club looking like they do not manage development - there are a number of players ahead of him in the queue who are more mature and worthy of squad places - he is undoubtedly a huge talent but like Alves the hype can kill you !

I guess we're seeing the truth about the academy which is that it can be great to nurture talent but if you're a Leicester it goes before they can get a game.

Is Rudkin to blame for this?..

You'd expect a culture that's excellent for academy development if one of the most influential personnel at a club has an extensive background in academy leadership who's gone on to be a DOF. Have we got that?

My vision for Leicester is that we become pound for pound the best academy in the country based on not being the biggest club but having the best training facilities, best academy coaches and best ethos that develops players in to 1st team football to give them the best platform to progress.

I've read and heard all the excuses why we can't do that against the big boys but truth be told I've seen scant evidence of it being a major priority for our club in terms of serious investment in order to do so.

Like with many things I think we've got lazy from where we were chasing the dream a decade ago.

Couldn’t have said it better Ric. It starts with trusting your younger players to fill the holes of the “experienced” reserve players.

Being scared of them failing and missing out on opportunities is rational, but is BDCR winning us points?

I have no issues with players like Hamza and Thomas still being here, they never cost us anything and are back ups, and if we get a fiver for them it’s profit. This summers philosophy of experienced players may actually set us back years on missed opportunities because we’re benching BDCR and Ayew instead of Alves, Evans etc

Sometimes you get a generational talent who needs to be in the first team squad at 15-17. There are examples now from other teams, and also famous ones from the past. I’d prefer to have him on the bench, with his raw ability which opposition will know nothing about, than say someone like Daka. If all the hype is warranted let’s see him, and then maybe his value will increase and we might actually keep him for a bit.

Why is it that we can't get him signed up and these clubs are free to pinch him for nothing? How is that fair?

Technically it isn't nothing, they'll have to pay compensation but the compensation will be nominal.

That's being pedantic, though, you are still right, it is ludicrous.

By all accounts, we did the same ourselves in acquiring Monga in the first place, mind, so it's probably karma in this instance.

But then you take a step back and remember he’s an actual child, and you can’t morally place restrictions on what a child does. If he wants to go and do something else, you can’t really say “no, we own you!”. It’s not like an adult who can sign contracts that result in obligations.

It’s therefore contingent on clubs to do what they can to encourage promising youngsters to stay with the club by offering the best environment and opportunities.

Monga, for instance, is having a decent private education paid for by the club. (Incidentally he won’t be going anywhere at this moment in time because he’s doing his GCSEs.)

Also, remember that the majority of academy kids get binned off ruthlessly, so you can’t really blame kids for jumping ship too.

I agree with what you're saying I just find it weird that a club can raise and nurture a player and then right when he's on the brink of first team football he (along with dozens of other players) gets pinched for next to nothing by a club with unlimited money to see which of them can make it as a high level player.

It's miniscule risk and potentially a massive reward for clubs like Man City and PSG.

just do what they used to do, get his family on the payroll, if he is that good there is ways to keep these players...

I agree with you,  While I undersrtand legally they are still children , There needs to be some form of retrospective payment based on a players value as time passes.

This is a unique situation in a unique industry.

The margin of profit is too high for the big Clubs to just steal potential players away from smaller Clubs, After they've nurtured them for years in small Academy's.

Was chatting to one of my mates and his best mate is a scout for Everton and use to be a scout for man u.He was telling us that Everton are in for Louis page from the under 18s and said he will cost about 1mill but if we go down he will be half the price. He said he's watch him for or five times and recommend  to his boss for approval.I said how do you get to watch them and he said he has to get permission from the club to watch the games at Seagrave.Onto Wonga he said he's way advanced for his age and he will be a top player and lcfc will sign him on a contract. He said they talk to the family and agent about signing for a club and sort out houses travel etc so they feel at home.He also said that leicester  and villa have the top academy  in the country and they are full of talent. He said for example Chelsea have 200 plus youth players on the books all round the world so they can pick the best of the bunch. Was very interesting talking to him about youth set up.

Leicester and Villa have the best facilities for young players but it doesn’t match performance in the academy leagues

Why would a Leicester youth player (who i i presume is a local lad) leave to go to Everton whether they wanted him or not? Not exactly a top tier academy in the last 15 years

That’s too restrictive

courts would never allow that once challenged under employment law

you might get away with two years which takes the player to 18 and therefore you get the chance to play them and build a value in the event they leave at 18.

Why would I run an academy under those terms? Its bonkers.

Current terms are worse than that and everyone runs an acedemy !

I know they worse, and I will say it again, its madness.

We fund player development, with no assurances of benefiting from the few good ones.  Cheaper to scrap it, and just poach players from smaller clubs academies instead which is what we seem to be doing anyway.
Other sports have similar to what I described and havent ran foul of employments laws, basically a "first dibs" return for funding sporting development.

I know better than to read into this sort of thing, but: looks like he's deleted a bunch of Leicester related stuff off his Instagram. Don't know if he used to follow the club, but he doesn't now.
