This would put him in the bracket of top five biggest fees for a 16 year old. We’re league one. 
 

It doesn’t matter how it is structured. We got next to nothing for Nyoni in comparison. 
 

I’m not sure we get anyone to pay much more than what is being touted.  
 

I don’t want to give any praise to the negotiations skills of those at the club. Like some have said he’s very talented and the club have fallen so far thanks to those same people, so we have no choice but to sell. Also Enzo probably picked up the phone to Top, rather than some bean counter at Arsenal who kept going up in penny increments.

When we were successful in the prem, we always sold a top player every season and bought well with the proceeds. Lets hope we can do that now with what I think is good money for Monga.

When this eventually goes through, it will be the usual undisclosed fee no doubt leaving us all guessing any amount from £5m + add ons to £10m with sell on clause. Why can't football fees be more transparent?

Shame it's one of our bright young stars leaving and not any of the deadwood. Sad that it's Monga before we've seen what he can really do, and it's not the likes of Vestegaard, Winks, Faes or Kristiansen (to name but a few) finally ****ing off elsewhere.

I would imagine fee will be close to £5m up front, with add ons (some easier/ some harder to obtain) taking the total package up to the £10m figure quoted. 
 

Either way I think it’s a fair deal all around.

 

Sadly best cause of action is to probably to use the funds to offset against any losses getting the deadwood off the books, and can then reset using our academy lads.

Made his debut in the same game as Lineker as I recall, I was at the game but too young to form a valid opinion, my dad said Buchanan was by far the better of the 2.

Yes, when the youngsters made their debuts Buchanan looked the pick of the crop, injuries hampered him I think. Lineker started on the right wing and was no winger, hadn’t got a trick and could only go one way. He came back after one summer however and had bulked up and gained a yard too, came on as substitute for Jim Melrose, when in my eyes he should’ve been playing in front of him that season, we missed a season of him we could’ve had I felt.

Buchanan’s case though does show that it can go wrong for youngsters, he was very good at 16.

I am going to be brutally honest and no doubt ain’t going to like some.

 

1) Monga is a youngster who has some potential but there are dozens of youngsters around who have the same or better  potential but because they are at top clubs they haven’t yet made first team debuts so aren’t on supporters radars.

2) LCFC aren’t in any position  negotiate. There is limited interest in him ( see 1 above). My guess is clubs that can afford to buy him just don’t see the potential that many on here think there is. Or God forbid attitude is an issue. ( I don’t know anything but do wonder)

3) Any package that potentially could rise to £10m will be loaded toward add ons. As I said the rumour I heard  the initial feel is way less than 50%.
4) The club have to get rid of him. The pre contract deal, if info is correct ,would be paying him between £1&2m a year. That’s unaffordable for a player that almost certainly won’t be a starter or come to that even any starter in EFL1 . If the club did rely on him he would be kicked all over the place.

5) He simply won’t develop anymore if he doesn’t move. The coaching staff will be culled as part of the economies that  inevitably means his development would be secondary he would be so engrossed in match preparation as opposed to education
