Firstly, I’ve not been impressed with much this season. If anything - it’s not like playing Vestegaard gives any more protection or positivity to the line up than anyone else. 
 

Secondly, this is a player who has been a problem since he arrived. Whether that be down to him or other people. Fell out with Rodgers. Couldn’t get in with Smith. Good season under Enzo. Atrocious in the PL. fell out with RVN over a dog. Cifeuntes may call him a leader but I don’t see it. 
 

When it comes to Vestegaard and Faes, I could pick plenty of games but the one that sticks out in my mind of how useless they are to us is the Everton away game last season, they completely and utterly gave up in one of the most unprofessional, classless performances I’ve ever seen of two Leicester CBs. 
 

They don’t lead. They have brain farts regularly. They don’t speak well. They don’t engage the fanbase. They are one argument over a dog or something else vitally important from downing tools. 
 

I am not saying Nelson, Okoli or Souttar are world beaters or will be the answer to our problems. What I’m saying is, these two fellas are done here. Their time here is simply a collection of bad times and bad moments. They as much as part of the problem as anyone else and if we are going to be anything ever again, we need to make this place a no go zone for such individuals. Add Thomas, Daka and a few others. 
 

And yes, some of the replacements on paper because of our hands being tied may not be as good but at least they come with a clean slate, a potential to build something with the fan base. 
 

I just can’t agree with you that there is anything positive to us in playing either two. 

So you would play Okoli and Nelson? (Souttar is injured.) We’ve already seen that Okoli’s presence in this team doesn’t improve our results. Nelson can’t find a place on the bench and it’s a massive leap of hope to say that a player that currently can’t get in the squad is going to improve things defensively. You can’t just bomb squad players like Vestergaard and Faes because you don’t like them and have judged them negatively in every way because of this hate. I frankly don’t care about what they say or personalities off the pitch. I look at Vestergaard in The Championship (very different from Vestergaard in the PL), I look how he performed for Enzo in this league and how he is playing for Marti and it’s very hard to blame him for where we are now whether he’s a nice guy off the pitch or not.
 

The problems we currently have at this level lie at left back, at cover for Ricardo at right back and particularly to the fact we have no forwards that can score goals. A lack of a goalscorer means conceding what was. only 1 goal is more than likely to result in lost points.

Not really sure what you saw yesterday. Sure, he’s not great with the ball at his feet and has trouble moving the ball but he did a great job defending. He won all 6 ground duels and the majority of his aerial duels. He put in some tough tackles and clearances.  
 

I don’t care if he would have scored a hat trick of own goals yesterday, I want to see him over Faes. There’s no point playing the two defenders who have gotten us relegated twice so let’s see what we can get out of Okoli by the end of the season.

He has that same nervousness and shovel foot style Amartey did when trying to play out from the back. 
 

Honestly our current CB’s make Amartey look like a top premier league defender.

Yes, he's probably been the best defender when you look at the amount of games played, and there's been some good performances from him. But he's also made several big mistakes or been involved in situations that have led to opposition goals.

 

Excellent at passing the ball under no pressure but that's the extent of his skillset. I think if we're dominating games, it's hard to argue against him at this level, but that's not what's happening. He's actually causing us a big problem for 2 reasons:

 

- Because he is probably the slowest footballer in history, he's forces us to sit much deeper and therefore pressing is out of the question. Or at least, when we do press, we are so horribly out of shape. You only have to look at the massive gaps between the defenders at times to see that (he is definitely not solely to blame).

 

- As we're not dominating games, we end up seeing him and Winks occupying the same positions and role. It worked under Enzo because we were so dominant they teams sat off him which meant Winks could generally take up more advanced positions, even if still deepish, where he obviously has more guile than Vestergaard. What we're seeing now is them both trying to do a similar role and aside from wasting Winks' better qualities (and he's a big problem too btw), it's taking yet another player away from attacking so we're left with no options.

 

He's much better than Faes and he's obviously a good player at this level, but he's not what's needed now. I don't think Nelson has that ability to wrap those passes into the front man like JV but he's definitely got the same long range passing ability, plus he can bring the ball out of defence with pace and has that pace to recover when playing a high line.

Yes I would until we upgrade. If we ever upgrade. 
 

Faes and Vestegaard are past their time here. There will be no consistent “success” with them here. Any short term success will be met with their toys out the pram, fault finding etc. collapses. It’s time to move on. 
 

I appreciate you want them in the team, I’m not there. That’s up to you.  Playing them is short sighted given that neither will be here next summer and not a long term option. To finish 8th instead of 10th isn’t really a reason. I can’t get behind them and a few others in the team and I think if you asked them, they’d both want to move on. This club will continue to suffer if the culture is not sorted.

Unfortunately, poor management, leadership and recruitment means we have little option at present.

I just want to say I feel it very harsh on Big Dan to be included in this list.

 

OK so he wasn't great with the ball at his feet, he did however try and I feel should not be remembered with the quite the same disdain as the others on this list

He isn't a good footballer, with poor spatial awareness or lacks half-decent passing ability, BUT he's not worse than any other player on this squad. Having watched the Hull match, I'm certain we will not be promoted any time soon. Mediocre side, no prospects, no hopes.

Rodgers playing Amartey as a first choice centre half was the actual issue, because he had whatever issue with Soyuncu

Depends what the guys was bought in to do. I think hes a good defender and hes done some decent stuff for us, albeit erratically. 

 

Terrible as a ball playing CB but if thats not what he excels at then we shouldnt have bought him.
