The whole world smiles Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Always been very impressed with him when I have seen him play which admittedly isn't loads but I've probably watched him more than the people who pushed tete or whoever the latest fashionable name from some shit league in Europe is. 1
ClaphamFox Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Is Tier 4 the lowest level source category? If so, we need to add another one below it labelled 'Footy Insider/Pete O'Rourke'. 1

If the feeling is that Ricardo is going to leave regardless of what division / manager we have, which IMO is a likely outcome, then signing Lamptey might be OK. However, I feel like a squad with Ricardo, Justin and Lamptey is utterly irresponsible given the injury records of all 3 players. Lamptey is a great player though, very unfortunate with his injuries. 3

Long Eaton Fox Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Ricardo, Justin, Lamptey, Wojo and Kristiansen should be able to play 76 games between them. That's only 15 games each.
Lambert09 Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Tell you what, if you start a game with BDR or Ayew it’s much more palatable with someone like lamptey overlapping them
Scotch Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 I'm worried that he's potentially being signed to play RW.

Footy Insider is like HITC, occasionally an aggregator and occasionally unsourced click bait shit. 2
FosseSpark Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 If Thomas goes out, this guys or KWP can come in. Both will improve the squad. 1

Chelmofox Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Every time i've seen Lamptey i've been really impressed, and he is better than what we currently have available. Injury record is horrible, so he will make an excellent replacement for Riccy. Between them, one is likely to be fit.
AKCJ Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 I wouldn't mind it if the wages are low but we'll give him 80k a week.
dmayne7 Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Unbelievable before he got injured a few years back. So he'll fit right in with our full backs 1
Xen Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Think this'd be a decent signing if the fee is modest. Injury record isnt great, but he's been mostly OK on that front this season so that bodes well. Clearly capable at this level so no more of a risk than Woyo. Can play more advanced, so if we've not been able to find a winger to bring in, it can help bridge the gap and puts less of a reliance on players like Ricardo/JJ picking up the slack. Kristiansen, Lamptey, Ricardo, Coulibaly, JJ is a pretty good crop of fullbacks in the right system. Gives us the option of pulling JJ/Coulibaly over to the left, or even (for JJ) as one of the wide CBs in a 3. I wouldnt be thinking our problems are solved if we brought him in, but I equally wouldn't feel like it was a mistake to do so so long as the terms are reasonable.

In terms of risk scale - because all transfers have an element of risk - I think it’s in an acceptable range given the potential upside. Suppose it depends on what league we are in next season. Signing him on £50k per week for 3 years in the prem could be decent business, £50k a week in the championship not so much, although he'd be ridiculously good in the championship if he was fit.
