The article describes him as a winger, so perhaps that's the plan

Cardiff manager in the article says he’s being brought in because he can play across all midfield forward positions.

So pleased for him. He’s been royally pissed about by our club. I think I’m right in saying he had opportunity to go out on loan at beginning of season but was being told he was a valued member of the first team so stayed. Then the club bring in Ayew, BcR, Buonnottee and El Khannous - all of whom play in his positions.
Let’s hope he gets minutes and shows his full potential there.

I as told exactly the same by someone ITK.  The club concerned are now sitting pretty in Div. 1.

I heard he had more options than one club to go to. Made to feel a big part of first team plans under Maresca then froze out by Cooper who would only pick on experience no matter what. Ruud no doubt made his own mind up but wouldn’t surprise me if his confidence was knocked with the changes of managers and the focus on new players. Two very experienced. Two lads of similar age (with more first team experience). Must be  disheartening when you’re not even being given a chance.

Birmingham? Would make sense with Davies there

Hopefully this is the Barnes to West Brom loan that indicates he's ready for us next season.

Annoying thing is... the "Barnes to West Brom" loan... as it happened... would have been ideal for us this season but we denied him a loan in the summer.

Think he'll struggle there.

Does he speak the language?

Understand the culture?

Doubtful.

Exactly. I'll offer to give him a crash course with a Saturday night out in the 'Diff ending with a drunken Chicken Curry off the bone "' alf an 'alf" at 2 in the morning.

Was a possibility as recently as the last week or two from what I was told. Would have been ideal too.

Big test for him. The recent bar was set by Barnes at Barnsley and West Brom at a similar level, he needs to be making a similar impact.

I think you're more likely to see a MK/Barnsley type Barnes loan.

He's their first Brazilian apparently.

Perfect. If he smashes it, there’s no excuses left not to bring him into the side next season.

Let's hope he does smash it, but the kid has only scored a handful of goals in his career at any level so far. If we are a Premier League club next season, it's highly likely he'll need another loan at least in the first half of the season.

Would've preferred him going to a club that's not part of a relegation battle.

I feel the opposite. You want to see if he has what it takes to turn up when the pressure is on.

You can't see what he's really made of if he spends half hos loan spell playing meaningless mid table games in the Championship.
