The quality of the ‘top teams’ in this division is as poor as I’ve ever seen it. It would be hard to see any stay up without any insane investment like Sunderland.

Sunderland weren't even a "top team" last season either. Finished 24 points off of 2nd, madness how they have invested and it's all worked out.

If Millwall were to finish 2nd though, they are overachieving massively. This is not a team anyone expected to be top two so fair play to them.

For Ipswich, they should have won the league with their squad.

Lowest points total required to finish 2nd since 2020.

Yep been thinking about that, didn't Leeds get over 90 in 23/24?

No, same with Sheffield United last season, 90 bang on.

But in 23/24 Southampton finished 4th with 87!

Sunderland and Leeds (not quite officially) have done well to break the trend but hard to see any of the promoted sides surviving next season. Maybe a bit of recency bias but Southampton seem better equipped but have to get up through the playoffs first.

Coventry & Millwall only beat us once

Boro & Ipswich both failed to beat us and we actually beat Ipswich 3-1!

The “good” teams this season haven’t actually been very good

Coventry are a good side, regardless of the draw at our place, they've scored 90+ goals and will probably finish the season on 95 points.

Middlesbrough shouldn't classed as a "good" team. They had a great start then massively dropped off, there was talk on here that Cov would bottle it but in fact it was Middlesbrough.

On the other hand, Southampton are a good team that started very badly (on New Years Day I think a point separated us and them).

Millwall are overachieving just by being in the play offs so it's nice to see a team up there that were not regarded as one of the better teams prior to the season starting.

Ipswich should have won the league with their squad. I'd have thought a lot of people would have backed them.

What a game this is! Really enjoying it whilst watching with envy. Night and day between how these teams play versus watching Daka fluff his lines and Ayew constantly fall on his arse.

You have Ayew and Daka mixed up it's Daka that constantly falls on his arse.

That last automatic spot rests entirely on which QPR decide to turn up against Ipswich. They gave Derby a game at the weekend despite being on the beach, to be fair, anything could happen. A draw would make things very cagey.

You'd think Millwall will get the result at home against Oxford. Boro have the toughest fixture away at Hollywoo Sgorioclwb.

Id love Millwall to go up automatically. The PL will hate it and their fans will be massively up for it all season. Expect something to kick off somewhere.

To have one of Ipswich and Southampton not go up would be good. Southamptons run since they beat us has been unreal, but it has the hallmarks of a team that messes up at the final hurdle. Each time ive watched ipswich ive been underwhelmed. Would rather Wrexham didn't go up.

Have a horrible feeling Derby might creep in, which would be horrific.

You need to look elsewhere.

You have players easily good enough, but they only seem to get motivated when playing the better sides. They just don't care enough to give full effort for the smaller sides. It's as though they don't care.

The Championship has slowly got stronger. More teams coming down with the money and others building for several years and making stronger sides. We got what we needed. A midfield general in Onyeka and a great GK in Rushworth.

And we beat Derby home and away who are still in with a slim chance of promotion..

We played 3rd place Millwall and they were hand on heart one of the lowest quality sides to come here all season.

There’s no doubt you’ve been fantastic but the quality of the league has been awful. I’ve seen a fair few non Leicester fans saying that too so it’s not just sour grapes.

Spend big and wise and its irrelevant if you got promoted out of a weak league

It's difficult to put this across in a way that doesn't come across as sour grapes but I don't think Coventry have improved since 23/24 or 24/25. I do think you've got a lot of typically 'decent' Championship players and very few genuine Premier League players.

I also think it's crazy that the likes of Millwall, Wrexham, Derby, Hull and Middlesbrough all have a realistic chance to go up. There are very, very few Premier League quality players in those sides.

Overall this Championship season has felt a lot more like a slog than a display of quality football. I think the same can be said for the Premier League too. Coventry have made up for their lack of real x-factor players by their determination and also the way Lampard has managed them. They appear to be the most solid team with the fewest chinks in their armour.

Our problem all season was results against the poorer teams.

14th and below...

QPR - 0 points

Sheff Utd - 0 points

Watford - 1 point

Stoke - 4 points

Portsmouth - 1 point

Charlton - 3 points

Blackburn - max of 3 points (probably 0)

West Brom - 4 points

Oxford - 1 point

Sheff Weds - 4 points

Bodes quite badly for next season.

West Brom really should have been 0 points as well. How we came out of that with 4 I have no idea lol

Yep. Even of those we picked up there it wasn't overly convincing.

I literally don't think there was a single game you could say we were comfortably better than the opposition and won it.

I said myself Rushworth in goal and Onyeka made the difference. When the player who gets player of the season is the GK you know you should do well. It allowed us to attack knowing the other team had to get past Onyeka then Rushworth.

We've scored 93 goals so far, the next is Ipswich clear second with 77 goals. Defence we're level best with Middlesbrough on 45 goals against. Just one more clean sheet for Rushworth and the golden glove is guaranteed. Up front we have 7 players with 7 goals each or more. If Torp scores again we will have 5 players on 10 goals or more. Us having faith in Onyeka and Rushworth meant we could attack. We suffered for years in the GK position. We finally got a good GK then he got injured when a Sunderland player came flying in. He has been out injured for over a year.

In 22/23 Alex Smithies won POTS for us and he didn't concede a single goal.

We got relegated...

What do people mean by quality?

Teams like Burnley, Southampton, and ourselves two seasons ago will just come back down.

The teams that stay up better are those who go up unexpectedly, and those that play more direct pressing football.

Playing touch ball isnt quality.

Buzzing for the last day of the Championship!!:scarf:

Got to make the most of it. Going forwards in the coming years, the only time we will get to play a Championship team will be in the early rounds of the League Cup or if we get through to the 3rd round of the FA cup!
