Think Wilder and Rudkin must be pretty pally with the number of loans we helped Sheff United with during Wilders 2nd spell. Thomas, Souttar, Choudhury.

I am not surprised if he is under serious consideration.

Wouldn’t be my first choice but I’d take my chances on the 90 points he got for Sheff Utd last season, with youngsters too.

Would anyone mind explaining this wasserman agent thing to me please?

Is it like having a favourite shop where you get favourable terms, however the goods in that shop might be not as good as others more expensive? Is there possible alleged back handers?

Imagine losing the entire off season, the first week and maybe more of preseason. No signings, no real sales, no movement whatsoever only to acquire free agent Chris ****ing Wilder.

I mean I don’t think any of our targets are blockbuster to justify our current predicament under **** Top and full kit willy puller Rudkin but I think that would be a new low.

Pretty much that.

Alot of our deals are done with the same agencies. From what we have heard, we tend to just wait for an agency like them to recommend a player or manager and we just say ok. Which is why recruitment is so bad or at best hit and miss.

Couldn't speak to back handers, but some agencies, wasserman particularly look at us like those TV shopping channels do to lonely OAPs with money.

It doesn't help that it seems the search criteria contains "must have recently worked in the city of sheffield" 😂😂

On the plus side, he has at least had a season of winning games. Recently we have gone for the likes of Smith and Cooper who had been poor for a while.

This agent fixation has to stop, though. No wonder we are declining rapidly. Such a lack of creativity and outward thinking.

Back up at 4/1... Got him last night at 22/1

Still next to nothing matched at the Betfair exchange (£56 in total). Until i see any movement there i think anything you are seeing at the main bookies is them adjusting to minor bets being placed.

To be honest, I may be in the minority here but I don’t think it would be that bad as some are making out. He knows the division inside out, has a good relationship with a couple of our players, can’t see him tolerating the low standards, he isn’t afraid to work with our younger players, he can get a club promoted.

Wouldn’t be my first choice but don’t think it’s a disaster. But like you say, it’s frustrating that it comes via agents and not our own work.

Basically Vardys long term agent John Morris works for wasserman. Massive agency. Also happen to be agents to a lot of our current and former players.

Not coincidentally their list of managers often reads near identical to our list of “next manager” odds.

However there were rumours it all went a bit sour with the Marresca stuff last summer, not sure whether that was then fixed after the KDH deal.

We seemed to move on to CAA Stellar last year with a few deals

Both of those agencies are so massive though that it’s hard not to deal with them.

The key link is John Morris who joined wasserman during Vardys time here.

And yes with all the PSR crap I’d not be surprised it all if he’d made an awful lot of money out of us.

Very much back on good terms.

Looks like Wilder then.

We're in such a shambles at the minute that we're one bad appointment away from League One and administration, so someone who pretty much guarantees us no relegation and will not be afraid to blood the kids whilst also not costing us another fortune is probably as good as we can hope for.

Just need to offload Coady, Ayew, Reid, Soumare et al now so there's no temptation to fall back on them in hard times.

Wilder for me comes in the bracket of could be better, could be worse.

But if he was appointed, it’s yet another lazy, unimaginative and clearly agent driven managerial appointment.

With the youngsters on show yesterday, if this board had any brain cells, they’d operate in a similar manner to Sunderland. Draw up a list of candidates who have good history of youth development and work from there.

In that particular regard, I’d actually have Wilder over Dyche, but looking through Wilder’s history at Sheffield United, it’s such a mixture in terms of developing youth and his overall recruitment.

At Sheffield United last season, he signed the likes of Michael Cooper, Harrison Burrows and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. If we were still in the Championship last season and signed that trio of players, I think many fans, myself included, would’ve been happy with that kind of recruitment.

But then as I mentioned above about his recruitment being a mixture, he also signed the likes of Kieffer Moore, Rob Holding and of course a trio of players from ourselves. His history of recruitment is usually players who play or have played in English football.

Appointing Wilder would be yet another indication, that this board are not moving with the times.
