Until I know what the 'private' reason is and if there's any truth in any of it, I'll reserve judgement. There's too much going wrong to properly get wound up by this particular story.

Well done, Ruud this is exactly what we need. Someone to set standards. Pretty obvious or owner can't do it. It’s highly unlikely to improve results in the short term, but that’s not the point. We don’t need players who think they can travel hundreds of miles for training or bring their dogs. It’s a complete joke.

Pointless, the next bloke comes in and has no issue with it.

Should’ve have set out his stall from Day one. But of course he wanted to get on their good side then.

now it don’t matter

His wife was about to give birth

I Totally agree with Ruud. Given the situation we find ourselves in it's not unreasonable to ask the players to commit a bit more to the cause.

It's certainly something the Club needs to make mandatory for new signings to move to the area or a reasonable distance from the training ground.

Whatever you think of RVN football wise, as a person he seems pretty reasonable and doesn’t seem like the bloke to cause a fight out of nowhere. He’s not the type of bloke to cause a bust up over a player saying “I need to be around my wife more post birth”,

It more seems that Winks has checked out of the season, is unwilling to put in the effort to turn his form around.

Didn't he fall out with his coaching staff at PSV?

Pissing in the wind really.

If RVN was arsed about standards, he'd not be playing Faes Coady and many others, week in week out.

There's clearly major issues within the squad but they should have been addressed from day 1, not at the point of relegation.

He’s just posted a photo on instagram of his newborn and liked a comment reading “This is why you didn’t want to commute that’s media for you”

**** him off.

Clearly not interested in improving his own performances or the teams.

Plenty of folk manage to stay away with work when they have young kids.

Hes being paid 60k the least he can do is spend a couple nights a week in Leicester. Lack of respect again for the club. Dont care if he doesn't play for us again. Him and mrs are happy to take the clubs money but not at least to honour clubs request.

Maybe it's because I've absolutely got it in for Ruud, but I think he needs to be careful here. Maybe he's rightly laid down the law here, but if he's decided to go all big bollocks now, sidelining a player who has just had a kid, that could make things even more toxic behind the scenes. Might be a bit late in the day to start asserting your authority now.

Baffled by the reaction on here. It's 100 miles down the M1, probably takes him 2 and a half hours.

He's hardly jetting in from Siberia is he

Maybe i sound mean but nowt stopping the family moving to Leicester closer to his work. There many foxes players who have relocated with families from abroad and they needed to settle in. No excuse. The club is paying a huge salary to live your life luxury at least show the club some respect.

There always issues when players from down south get asked to move up north or two the Midlands. Its same country for goodness sake. Perhaps even cheaper to live.

I think 5 hours of driving for everyday of training is hardly conducive to being on top of your game.
