Surely Vardy is better than Daka next season. To replace him will cost more than it would to keep him. We have no chance next season if we rely on Dake. He can't even stand up. Give him a contract

Can't pay him a 100k which is what he's on, move both on and rebuild.

Don't worry guys, the narrative is set.

Ruud gets the boot.  New gaffer comes in and talks Vardy and co into another season.

Whole club gets a lift, new manager instantly gets fans onside, we have a striker capable at the level, some duffer buys Daka for actual money.

Why do you have to pay him so much. At his age offer a sensible deal . If he refuses then so be it. Sounds to me like we didn't offer him anything

I'm still in shock the board is allowing this to happen. Vardy should have retired here. We're relegated, give him a last good contract and get rid of the wannabe footballers in expense.

Shambles.

Allowing it to happen?

what can the club do? We can’t afford his wages in the Championship, for a player who won’t contribute a huge amount.

And Vardy himself (quite rightly) thinks he can play in the PL for one more year, which we obviously can’t offer

Going to be honest I don’t agree with you, 20 goals last season and 8 goals this season would suggest he still has lots to offer, a damn sight more than Daka. Personally a sensible negotiation of say a decent signing on fee of say £2.5m plus £50k per week basic plus a promotion bonus clause of another £2.5m All in outlay of about £7.5m …….find me a striker to replace Vards for that outlay, don’t think we will get anywhere close.

He has been grossly mismanaged this season, we have flogged a 38 year old week in week out because he is still head and shoulders above anyone else in the squad.

Next season if managed properly he would still bag 15 goals.

Prime Vards today, blows the refs whistle while he's acting like he's been shot and a sharp finish.

To the weird peopel that can't let go of a nearly 40 year old man. Enjoy his 200 against Ipswich, grow up and move on fellas. Like lovesick teenagers, it's sickening.

Part of me wants him to chalk up 200 in front of the home end at Forest followed by some top-tier rustling but really it has to be In front of the Kop in a fortnight.

What are his wages?

Given he's out of contract.

Well he is only 190k pw so £9.2 million a year.

So if we signed him for another 3 years it would cost the club almost £30 Million and that's not including bonuses.

Basicly what I'm saying is having Vardy for 3 years is like buying oliver Skipp

Under the transfer embargo we will be on.

The very most we would be able to offer a player in wages is around the 10 to 15k mark. Deffo no more than 15k

Right, but you understand he is not on that.  He is out of contract and therefore is on £0pw.  So negotiations on a new deal start there.  He can only take what is being offered.  If another club offers him a wage and a 3 year contract in line with what he earns now, so be it, but that's not the case.

Vardy with something to prove on a free? Yes, please.

Signed,

Any PL club with sense

The long and short of it is that the club as a whole needs a reset, and we can’t do that properly with Vardy still here. Just enjoy his last few.

Replace "Vardy" with "Rudkin" and I'd agree with you.

What should have been done is resetting with Vardy as the thread that strings old to new. Just a little of sprinkle of Vardy on the young players we have or will be signing (hopefully) for a year or two - that's priceless. And it took a herculean effort and levels of ineptitude for the club to **** that up.

The club's greatest player and greatest era are ending with relegation, PSR troubles - past and future, pending points deduction, dysfunctional board and management, and an awful squad that seems more likely to be relegated next year than promoted. It's really crazy when you think about it.

Probably because he wants more then we can afford?

Or maybe he just wants a different challenge.

We have to move on at some point.

Vardy struggled in his first season in the championship so badly that Pearson and Shakey had to convince him not to quit.

Sky sports suggested the club were ready to back Jamie and gave him the decision and he chose to leave.

It’s absolutely imperative if we are going to replace Jamie long term that we sign someone young and with a point to prove then give them a full run in the championship. The last thing we need is Vardy getting another 1300 minutes next season (he got nearly 2000 last season), we maybe get promoted and the new striker barely has a full season under his belt going into the premier league.

We need to replace Vardy now, not phase him out at the expense of whoever we are trying to replace him with.
