It’s called negotiation. They know we really need to sell him and know he wants to go, pissing around might save them a couple of million.

Brilliant ! The club where we talk about 1 player for a eternity and we’re going to conclude a deal where we sit day after day waiting for news Has he signed yet ? What’s taking so long ? It takes a week to warm the old fax machine up 2/3 signed within 48/72 hours ? Not a chance ! 1
grth2004 Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 West Ham trying to sign free agent Callum Wilson and the report says “West Ham insiders spent the start of the window stressing they needed to sell before they could buy due to PSR concerns.” I struggle to see them spending £25million on a keeper right now.

I was hoping this would be done earlier, so Jakub could be classed as the number 1 and it is sorted. Mads' injury recovery hasn't helped, I guess. But we need to sell an asset and this is the best option. Im starting to think clubs will wait till the end of the transfer window to pick off our players, then what would we do? Do we play Mads as our best keeper? Do we drop him to the bench assuming he moves, what if he doesn't? Marti has a bit of an issue there, unless he knows he's definitely going. Besides which so much b0llocks comes out of clubs around this, part of which I am sure is pleading poverty to help deal negotations. There are supposedly 6 clubs interested in Mads so whatever happens we should get strong market value for him.

You don't play Mads under the pretense he's still on the road to recovery and behind everyone else in preseason (which isn't as much of an issue for a keeper, but still) and see where you're at when the window closes. If he's gone, nothing doing, if he's still here, play whoever merits it.

As others have said, those fees will be amortised. So West Ham should have some cash still...unless they need it to balance for PSR. Fingers crossed they can afford £25m ish for Mads.
Ric Flair Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 They made about £35m on Kudus's book value, so even spending £35m on Todibo and £18m on Diouf, over 5 years thats around £11m a season for PSR. Plenty left for Hermansen.

That fee was agreed before he went on loan last year and a compulsory purchase was triggered when he made the requisite number of games. Based on his potential and the competition for him it probably seemed like a good deal; based on his performances it definitely wasn’t. 1
Lesta2014 Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Think it will be quite telling if Mads doesn’t play today now Marti has said he’s fit.

Probably would be in the top 15-10 fees ever received for a keeper. Anything 20m+ and I think we have done well. James Trafford fee is a good bench mark, 27m for someone who younger and English. I think 25m for Mads would be outstanding business. Buying players younger players for 5-10m and growing them needs to be our model. For Skipp we could have had 3 or 4 players, you only need 1 or 2 come off. Edited 3 August 2025 by coolhandfox 4

JimJams Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 25mill plus addons is a good for all parties. We get a decent fee, he gets a premier league move and if his injuries are sorted, pretty confident he'll go for double that to a Man Utd or someone of that ilk when they get desperate. 1
