You’d have to expect this is the case, but at the same time, you’d have to level a good portion of the blame at the way the club position and market themselves.

The funny thing is that since the title win, we’ve spent a good number of years as one of the more recognisable clubs in the world (outside of your usual suspects). Another opportunity wasted.

We don’t seem to care about merchandising ourselves which, like it or not, you need to do in modern football to increase profile and revenue streams. Pretty sure one of the reasons we resigned with Adidas was because the club felt the brand was more ‘prestigious’, which is the wrong idea. You’re just hoping to be cool by association when every other kit deal is Adidas. You aren’t special. Who cares?

Should’ve taken the chance to go and be a face of one of the challenger brands (maybe not Castore). Not being able to get into Sports Direct, when you see some of the tat they stock that can’t be being bought by anybody, is farcical marketing.

They didn't go into places like Sports Direct due to the deal they held with JD I believe as they agreed to set price points...which they then got found out and fined for.

It's a vicious circle as leeds generally sell twice the amount of shirts to Leicester for example, so are local elite. So they get some of the nice stuff, but its only sold in certain countries and areas. It's not just the guys at Leicester making the decisions, its the demand for it overall for Leicester stock.

Leicester just dont sell enough stock overall for Adidas to do more.

You could always go to a smaller brand for kits and maybe get different stuff, but it would be on a lower deal than adidas overall still.

We sell fewer shirts than Leeds because they have a larger fanbase (and diaspora) but we sell fewer shirts than we ought to.

Like somebody has said earlier in the thread, we don’t distribute them well enough. The club shop(s) and the JC Sports are the only place you can pick them up physically and they’re all in the city itself.

It’s not even like they’ve tried to sell shirts in Loughborough, Hinckley, Melton etc.

I dont live local to Leicester, so if I pick anything up it was from the club shop, or Adidas if/when it was on.

As you have put there if Leicester shops are not allowed to make an effort selling, then the base cannot grow that much.

I used Leeds as the example of a team who are arguable being lower than us since we have had Adidas, but are looked after more as Adidas get more back from them. I believe both Newcastle and Villa have moved up to an Adidas Elite club for next season.

Nope you are right. I attended a signing session there with Lennon and Savage.

Savage signed my brand new yellow shirt ‘Lilly’, the big nosed twonk.

Wasn’t there a club concession inside Dominoes Toys too?

Anyway, I’m convinced our failure to flog clobber is because the shirts are either uninspired or downright honking and the official merch is usually complete tat.

Whats the latest date the new kit has been released in previous seasons, have we broken the record?

Was on the 6th last year.

Just to let you all know, I had a dream last night where our new shirt had a collar so freakishly massive it made it look like one of the special Power Rangers with the shield, so be prepared for all eventualities.

I assume that kit is all sorted now, but the media team were probably waiting for players to return for all the images to release.

Seems mad not to have got it done and out selling earlier to earn some more £££.

Or does that fall into the PSR calendar too? lol

My lads birthday on the 6th and he’s always had it in time for that.

This would be the first year since he has been going it’s not out in time.

He is 13 on Sunday and I’ve told him this is the last year he can come with me wearing a kit.

He needs to get the badge in, once he is 14

In that case, it’s just bonkers not to have launched it then!

They've been waiting to have Gary O'Neil holding it up for his big reveal

It'll all be down to the front of shirt sponsor.

Usually they do photoshoots in advance and then photoshop the sponsor on once confirmed.

I'd forgotten about that but yes. I think that was there for a few years after the Churchgate store went.
