adam Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Apart from the one season at Southampton he hasn't really done anything, the Swansea fan I know thinks he a clown and plays some of the worst football you can watch too. So many better options but as usual we go for the cheap option.
Silebyfox_89 Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 An English version of RVN. God help us we're in a mess

Both styles are awful, which is why Chelsea fans are sick of him already. Both Enzo and Russell want to dominate possession for the same reason, to try to convince the opponent to lose shape and press, it's boring, it's sideways, it's negative imo. But you also said Enzo fans would be happy.. I liked Enzo but am completely anti-Martin..

Let’s see how Leeds do with their 49ers owners

A man who plays possession football, has a fantastic eye for a player, doesn’t take any nonsense from players and has a clear identity. If we can’t get a new DOF we need a manager/coach who can drive change despite the board incompetence. I think that recruitment under purl was down the Mercia wasn’t it? 3

We've spent all season unable to get out of our own half watching Soumare, Ndidi and Skipp try and build from the back. Doesn't matter what style of play you want to play, someone's got to be able to get the ball up the pitch and those two are currently the only ones on our books who can actually break the lines. 8
TheGoldenGod Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Can't re-iterate enough "I told you so"...sorry if its low but I said time and time again to stick with Ruud....and this is what happens. Zero reason to change managers at this point, the chopping and changing is doing us no good. Brussell is Enzoball on steroids and also WORSE. We smashed them last season, beat them twice this season (don't care one of those times wasn't with Brussel), they are a tiny club that don't get appointments right on players or managers and we seem to be OBSESSED with their recruitment. KP OUT! 3

I didn't say they would, I said I'm surprised they are not, because Martinball is a massive step in the same direction as Enzoball with very similar patterns of play. I can't see a massive difference between the two, so I'd be interested for someone to properly break down the difference between the two styles. I detest the style anyway, give me heavy metal gegenpressing over that any day. 1

TheGoldenGod Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Also there were parts of the fanbase, albeit a minority, that hated Enzoball despite WINNING most weeks! The club have the blueprint to a reaction when it goes slightly pete tong and they've decided to ignore the signs and appoint Martin anyway (if sources are true)....so we ALL know what's going to happen when he starts having a bad patch. 2

winteriscoming Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Would rather have Dyche and I don’t want him. Spacks of he will do as he’s available. Loads of managers I’d rather we went for. 1

We're in a financial mess clearly based on the recent charges...so why sack a manager NOW we're relegated? You're piling on the finances...doesn't need to be a "gotcha", it'll come true quickly for anyone doubting me 1

Rudd might do pretty well in the Championship it’s a sideways move
Guest Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 Yeah go on then. We obviously have no interest at all in being a serious football club anymore so might as well just try and lean right into the absurdity. Dropping into the Championship with a points deduction courtesy of the authorities and then a second, self-imposed one in the shape of Russell Martin is the ideal start

Winks is fantastic at 5 yard sideways and backwards passes, he's a master at it, but there are many championship level midfielders that could do what he did last season with a similar result, maybe not to his level entirely, but not far off. He was massively overrated for much of last season, on balance If we get to the end of the transfer window and we have signed all of the positions we need to fill and there is a CM position left and it's financially viable, I'd happily put Winks back in. But for the sake of his 90k a week and the fact beyond sideways and backwards passes he's pretty average I'd want to see him moved on, being better than the Champ isn't worth 90k a week, sadly we might be stuck with him for that very reason.

If we extend again then we're absolutely moronic for sure. I don't see anyone taking Winks for profit either, frankly. They're obviously not the only two players in the world who can do what they do, they're hardly my favourites, I'm fine if they're replaced. But Winks was far too good for the Championship last time out. I'm also not writing him off because Ruud has gone to war with him, it's ridiculously unfair to claim he's pampered or not committed purely because the most incompetent manager we've had since Martin Allen has used him as a scapegoat. AjcW Posted 21 May 2025 Posted 21 May 2025 @StriderHiryu can you do your thing when you get a chance? Man plays about 45 different formations depending on which way the wind blows
