Watkins finding form the right time, think that's his airplane seat booked for the world cup. To make things interestingly depressing ten years ago we won the premier league, whilst Villa were rock bottom. Now Villa are 4th in the champions league and europa league final midweek to come. Credit to them, got a good manager and signed some decent players. Liverpool wow they look so bad tonight, makes you think was last years title winning season more of momentum from Klopp era and this year we are seeing more of the Slot team..

And the worst of it is, Emery would have come here if we'd sacked Rodgers when we should have.

Does this mean Bournemouth and Brighton are battling for a champions league place if Villa win the europa?

Only if they finish 5th as well.

Xabi Alonso going to Chelsea

Should’ve held on a bit longer to get the Liverpool job

Agree. Can forgive him for taking on basket case Real, but to take on basket case Chelsea is risking your reputation early into your managerial career.

Suspect he has enough credit in the bank to get a good job when he's unemployed in 10 month's time, but he needs to pick wisely after he's sacked from Chelsea next season.

Chelsea's money is their main draw. After what happened with Enzo you'd be asking serious questions going in. Basket case. Have to admire Alonso's self-confidence if it's that, unless he's just going for the inevitable pay-off ~2027.

He’s been at an even more power crazy institution in Real Madrid.

... and they absolutely chewed him up and spat him out. Chelsea just keep buying random hordes of players, giving them decade long contracts on 250k a week - they're insane. He'd be insane to go there. At least Real Madrid pretend to be interested in the players they buy up, it's just the calibre of player they've got in this generation has led to personality clashes where they turn toxic after losing. Chelsea treat the game as if players are real estate, if they buy so-and-so at least he isn't tearing it up at any imaginable competitor. It's like the only thing they learned from De Bruyne & Salah development was, is that they didn't do it extreme enough.

Both Van Dijk and Salah are in serious decline.  Slot needs to replace both if he wants to avoid running out of credit with the Liverpool fanbase.

Funny how the media try and spin things to make sound so much more impressive.

Semenyo - non league to fa cup https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cj9pz9rnywzo

So basically, came through a championship academy in Bristol City and did a few games on loan at Bath when he was 18!

What about Wes Morgan‘s journey from non-league (few games at Kidderminster in his younger days at Forest) to FA cup glory lol

Happens all the time when the media quote someone's parents job or former job to make them sound more rags to riches than they actually are.

'Former shelf stacker', but when they were at school. 'Son of a receptionist', but their father was an investment banker

I think if anything Alonso going too Chelsea proves Liverpool aren’t in the looking for a new manager.

so basically there was nothing too hold out for

Another one we've missed out on. If only we'd moved quicker after our relegation was confirmed.

Alonso going to chelsea cant get my head round. When was he approached by liverpool to replace klopp he turned them down. Despite being a former player, yet years later happy to join chelsea 🤔 think a lot of liverpool may feel a little peed with this. As some say the liverpool job may come avaliable soon.

He turned them down because he knew Real were on the horizon.  And Chelsea are good for a payout.

Why would anyone want to manage Chelsea under this ownership
