Tbf would laugh my arse off if this was true seeing as the Yanks have all jumped in the claim that they are Iranian sponsored terrorists that they've been "monitoring" for ages.

I was thinking that there's also something terribly British about the fact that someone contacts the military police about something suspicious during a period of high alert, and no one picks up the phone.

The cases have got his birthday presents in so best wear black clothes and a Bally as you wouldn't want to ruin the surprise, would you? It's a big birthday so I'll give you £80 for doing that. this could be another proxy event where young men are recruited online and paid to do something stupid/criminal/terror related. But the vans seem too clever for a very simplistic operation with dodgy phone numbers on them.

Or they've let them go with an eye to future operations, which indicates their threat can be managed.

If they were genuinely hardened terrorists there is absolutely no chance they would release them and risk them running into the street and hurting somebody as soon as they got the chance

Had they crossed out 'Aziz's Terrorist Cell' and written 'Honest Sean's Plastering" on them?

I'm wondering if RAF Fairford was a sting to make the USA look stupid? Admittedly, not difficult, but Rubio and the US insisting that this is still a foreign power acting. Can't imagine they would've been released if any kind of weapons, even a knife, had been found on them or the van.

Under Help to Buy the equity loan was interest free for five years, then started charging 1.75% and went up every April by inflation plus two%. And when you repay it, you repay a share of what the house is worth now rather than when you bought it.

sure, because effectively the government invested in your house, so they share n the uplift of that investment.   They ultimately owe 20% of the house under Help to Buy.     IF it were the opposite and Labour suggested a scheme where you only paid back what you borrowed, then everyone on the right would be up in arms about "freebies". 

 

We used help to buy for the house we are in now.   We still have the Help to Buy loan... it isn't overly painful every month (we've been here 6 years now.)  we COULD borrow to pay the loan off, but the increase in borrowing cost is more than the interest on the HTB scheme.   We plan to sell the house and downsize significantly at retirement, and will pay it back at that point, unless interest rates drop again significantly in the future and borrowing is cheaper to do.   

 

I'm sure your brother will tell me i'd making a loss on that decision financially (I probably am technically) - But I can invest more in my pension and investments now, rather than putting that to the extra borrowing i'd need to pay off the HTB scheme today.   My hope, is that the growth in those investments eventually pay off the HTB anyway.

No, because its for new builds only.

 

You are paying a premium for a new build, so you would be better to get a cheaper older house and not borrow from the government.
