Having just done a very quick tot up in my head (again not the best with numbers) of the Macquarie loans, player sales, TV and other bits and pieces of income, against what we've potentially spent on wages, player purchases etc. and it just doesn't seem to add up, where's all the money gone?

It'll still be sat on the balance sheet under 'income'.  We need to plug a front-of-shirt sponsorship income gap too. Consider too our drop in income on match days and Macquarie loan interest. I think the biggest pinch is that our 3 year accountancy period ending this season will have 2 years in the Championship on it; £61mil loss instead of £105mil loss. £44mil income/savings to find on top of the reduced Championship revenues. It's bleak. That's why we're plugging revenue gaps (PL income) largely by selling capital assets (players).

Haha yep, all clubs have it to be fair.

 

My Newcastle supporting mate has spent the last year or two telling me how amazing Isak is. Since the Liverpool story started developing, it's been "he's been a bit off form", "he does seem a bit injury prone"

Mixed opinions on this. On the one hand 30m+ for a player who managed just 7 assists and goals combined last season is a no brainer. 
But he’ll be far too good for the championship this season. 
I just know that we’ll waste the money on has beens like Bamford if he does go. 
Sadly we’re in a position where we can’t turn this sort of money down. 
I just hope if he goes we will be able to keep Fatawu.

If this sale doesn't elicit player purchases in key positions, we are absolutely in Sheffield Wednesday territory and it's pointless pretending any different.

I genuinely don't see us spending the money, we haven't spent any of the Mads, Ndidi, Coady, Ward money yet? we also don't have strong links to anyone. Club is in such a mess, incredibly worrying times. I think the next two weeks will show where we are going to be for the next 2-3 years

His agent is his mother, so she wouldnt link him to clubs that he didnt want to join. Ive lost count of how many clubs he has been linked with and therefore its a fair assumption hes pretty much willing to go anywhere better than us.

 

He's forced his way out of a previous club so his loyalty is some what questionable.

 

I don't blame him for wanting to improve his career, but cant blame people for being bitter when players who were contributory to our disastrous season want to jump ship as soon as they possibly can.

 

I can pretty much guarantee he will want away from Palace if / when they dont make Europe next season.

Its his agents job to look out for his career. So if she can get him a move to a better team then why wouldnt she?

 

Id much rather sign players who arent happy to settle for mediocrity and want to progress.. as appose to people like Danny Ward who are happy to stay at the same club picking up a wage, regardless of the clubs position

Been saying the same for a few weeks. As I said in another thread a few days back, I believe we are really that close. Whole kp group if you call it that is in a mess.

This'll be £60m in fees and nearly £500k a week off the wage bill now, so nearly £25m a year in wages. Enormous amounts of bunce and the 'sell before we can buy' narrative is looking fantastical. 

 

We need a CAM, CDM, ST and RB bare minimum.

It's shocking, and the silence from the club is deafening. The push for early season ticket renewals smacked of desperation. We seem to be ran by some shopaholic taking out payday loans to feed the rabbit,hoping the lottery comes in along the way with the loans we keep having. Maybe that's normal?  I  believe it's more that we are deep in the shit.

If we (or rather the management) have screwed us so badly that we are having to have a fire sale, then I don’t want us to buy anyone, and tough it out with what we have in house and in youth. Would love to believe it’s a deliberate reset, but it feels more desperate than that, something that the loss of Fatawu would surely cement.

I think this is harder said than done I think you have 3 types of players.. 

 

1. Players that will sign but look at the club as a stepping stone

2. Players that will sign who are happy to pick up a wage

3. Players that have under achieved but committed, buy into the team not looking at the club as a stepping stone. 

 

We seem to have a mix of 1 & 2.

 

3 is the Pearson model we can also bring through youth using this method and have a team that want to win things for the club.

Don't want him to go but £32m is very good money for us and I'd rather he went to Palace than newly promoted Sunderland.

 

I can see him progressing well and maybe earning a bigger move in a couple of seasons.

I think this player leaving will be what finally breaks the back of us and consigns us to the Championship for the foreseeable future. 

On the face of it, £32million is a great price for him, but taking into account what we are left with, and the lack of transfers or even rumours, then I don't think it can be understated how big a loss this is for us at this level and for making us competitive in attack. 

 

Palace is a great move for him, so good luck to him. I sense he wanted to leave anyway so there is that as well. 

Barring a surprising late haul of 5-6 first team players being signed, I don't think we have any chance of promotion this season.

We can buy one or two but they need to be the right choice and its getting a bit late in the window but still players out there surely we have been scouting players over the last 3 months we only need 1 or 2 to make a difference to the starting 11 really, along with bringing through some youth players.

If and it's a big if we signed the likes of Rego and Brownhill then fair play but if we don't buy, or we just sign some waste of time (coulibaly) and of Fatawu gets sold late in the day, the atmosphere at the club will turn from toxic to dangerous.

Decent deal all around if it’s over 30m. We need the money, they need an eze replacement and palace are a much better proposition than we will be for the foreseeable. Genuinely think he will be a very good player in the future and wish him well. His managers while he has been here have been ruud and Steve cooper and he’s still managed to look decent, imagine what he could do under an actual manager.

I've got a funny feeling Palace realise that they can improve the player.  Much like they did with Eze in the first place.

It'll be a decent move for him. However, surely they don't see him as a direct replacement for Eze? I see them as different types of players.
