£30m + is an INSANE amount of money for a non goalscoring 10 who is an 8 but hasn't really played as an 8, who Palace are 100% going to use as that Eze inside left 10.

This obviously significantly weakens in terms of flair / general creative play but let's not pretend his numbers are in any way decent because they're not.

We need players that can find the goal and BEK isn't one of them.

I agree - ridiculous money for a bang average footballer - massively overrated

We need here and now players, we have enough potential coming through the academy. We don't need to be spending more on youngsters.

Spend on staff, a decent comms team, repair the connection between club and fans. No player wants to be here because the place feels rotten.

Like Bobby Reid, Ayew, Vestergaard? We’ve tried and failed at that method many a time

Selling with no incomings…. Smells a bit like asset stripping.

Perhaps we are going up for sale imminently.

I keep reading sentiments along these lines and I would love for somebody to explain why they believe asset stripping the squad would make it more attractive to potential buyers. By far the more logical interpretation is that the owners either have no intention of selling or have tried to sell but given up due to lack of interest, and have decided to prioritize balancing the books over squad investment.

We are massively weaker after this. Bilal was the last creative midfielder we had left. We've already loaned money from a bank against parachute payments so presumably that's all gone too. Absolutely no guarantees any of it will be reinvented. Financial meltdown.

The last Macquarie loan was secured against parachute payment and potential 26/27 and 27/28 prem tv money payments. So it must have been sizeable.

The one before that was secured against last seasons TV money.

We have spent neither of those sums on incoming players.

We've also raised around £70m in player sales so far this summer.

Wake. The. ****. Up

Absolutely bonkers that people are saying Bilal is overrated. Knowing full well the shit he's had to play alongside and for, for the last year.

He's going to absolutely tear it up.

I've been saying exactly this for months.

This is going to sound arrogant, but I do wonder what some people see when they watch football.

People calling him average...what are you on? He's is by far are most creative player who is still young. The improvement he showed last season was impressive. He's got room to improve and Crystal palace might be a sensible move for him.

Don't be bitter at him leaving, it was always going to happen He is not average...end of

He’s a great player who’s been surrounded by very limited players in a toxic dressing room for his entire time here. Better players around him will allow him to focus on the creative side of his game.

Where’s this bang average footballer stuff coming from lol technically he’s superb, can beat a man, works his balls off, half decent in the air, not bad in the tackle and can pick a pass… his weak point is his finishing which for me points to him being a top 8 in the future….all that and he’s Just turned 21 and only had a year in this country!

For me hes one of our best players and for a set of fans like ours who’ve been having to get used to signing “Average” footballers for the last few years (look no further than 25m Oliver Skipp) you’d think we’d appreciate a talented young footballer when we bag one 🤷🏼‍♂️

Very much this.

The overrated and average shouts are unbelievable lol He's quite clearly a huge talent.

It's because nowadays people just look at numbers and "oh he only scored xx goals he's not that good". Mad way to judge players.

... Other than Fatawu and the youngsters, I'm not sure there's another player in the squad I actually rate/like now El Khannouss is going.

Ricardo & Mavididi, maybe?

I'd be happy with mid table this season if thats what the asset stripping causes, as long as they are selling, that's worth it's weight in gold. Never gonna happen though

Grim, now we’re down to about 3 players who can pass forwards

If we lose him and Fatawu then all excitement is gone. We'll have nothing.
