Poor guy. The seagrave curse strikes again Kind of ironic that people are talking now about extending his contract when previously not wanting to sign players that have had ACL injuries. He has a dilemma now.

To extend his contract with us or take a risk that he will play again and move on.

Does it make it more likely? Before this, he was likely running down his contract and going on a free. 

 

I’d say it’s a huge gamble for a player to let their contract run down when they’re done their ACL, maybe more so than the club offering a new deal.

Alves, Braybrooke and now Nelson.

 

3 of our brightest academy prospects that, while we were in the Premier League in 2022 or so, would have been viewed as future high end Premier League players. All with major injuries, none sustained in league football.

 

He's out of contract next summer as well which just sums it all up.

Only if they had somebody with 700+ career appearances in the team to babysit them, it'd be reckless to let young players play otherwise

Offer to pay his contract up now, wish him well and inform him he’s no longer allowed to use the Seagrave health and Spa facility. Let’s see how desperate he is to leave then!

Seagrave has nothing to do with it 😂 it’s one of those bizarre situations where a few players pick up these types of injury.

So since 2020 I make it 8 significant ligament injuries.

 

1. Alves.

2. Braybrooke.

3. Ricardo.

4. Justin.

5. Fofana.

6. Fatawu.

7. Souttar.

8. Nelson

 

I think Ethan Fitzhugh also did his knee.

 

The timings of them all have been horrendous too. If you were to ask us what price those players would have cost at the time you're looking at a good combined £200m I reckon.

Wishing the lad well. Really hope he makes a solid recovery, even if it’s a long road. 
 

Hopefully he sees common sense also and signs a new deal - if the club have left it on the table of course.
 

Would be a show of faith from him and the club, although I appreciate we haven’t the finances for philanthropy. Often it’s over 12 months recovery so it wouldn’t do him any harm to have a bit of security and be able to make a solid rehabilitation plan. In the meantime though I hope the operation goes well and they have a good plan for him in place.

huge difference between signing a 22 year old with an ACL than a 32 year old, when age is a huge factor in recovery to an elite athlete level
