Yes very boring, but I've spent so much money on what have been supposedly amazing pillows, to find they're not. So I'd like some recommendations please, what is everyone using that I should buy or avoid please?

I'm curious. In what way were they less than satisfactory?

I think it depends how you sleep. I'm a side sleeper and bought some pillows recommended for side sleepers and I've never looked back. They weren't anything special, just went to Dunelm and picked what felt best, slumber down I think but I liked the fact they recommended different pillows depending on how you slept and it worked for me.

I imagine you could find similar info online to give you a guide.

I dont really buy into alot of the trends online with pillows/mattresses.

In the words of a noble prophet, everyone needs a bosom for a pillow.

I mean I can't really use my own now,  I need to hopefully wait a fair few more years before gravity takes it's toll and allows me that privilege lol

Sleep on the left side, then.

I have done much the same.  I finally found one that worked for me Soak and Sleep, soft as down, medium soft. Swear by it, but obviously I think it all depends on how you sleep as to what pillow works best.

As you get older this sh1t matters unfortunately!

Tempur. Worth the cash, despite the feeling of violation at the time.

Rubber glove treatment.

Anyone else have to sleep with another pillow between their knees? Can’t stand my knees clashing when I’m on my side

Me! They have special pillows for that too but I just use a thin pillow. I have 4 pillows i use and depends on the night how I may arrange them. My acid reflux can dictate too!

The wife, me and kids went pillow shopping. Haven't bought pillows in years but ffs when did they get so $$$$$.

We decided to get some more expensive pillows then  what we normally have. My bank balance bitch slapped me right away.

I am a back/side sleeper so bought something specifically for that. Hope it's the right decision or will feel like a complete tw@t for how much we spent. The problem is any pillow can feel great in store. It's not until you get home, shower, stay naked, hop into bed and see if your neck (the one above your shoulders) hurts or not lol. Can't return the bastards!

It depends if you're a fan of feather or synthetic. I'm not a fan of feather pillows, as the feathers shift to the side and you're on a flat section by morning.

I've a dunlopillo memory foam one, which I've had for years and a thinner inexpensive synthetic polyester thing underneath, which just gives a half pillow lift. As, one isn't enough and two is too high.

It's a very personal choice and depends on which position you adopt to sleep and how much support you want during sleep.  My wife and I use different types and numbers of pillows - I like to use a feather filling and sleep on my side with my head fairly flat but my wife sleeps both on her back (initially) then on her side.  She prefers a larger number of pillows with a synthetic filling to get the support she needs (though it's also useful for getting her out of range of her husband).

I much prefer a firm pillow... can't settle at all with anything that is feather or even the standard pillows.

I've not got some tempur memory foam ones.... they come in different levels of firmness, but i've found the ones which work for me and they are perfect.

Reading this i can't believe how complicated some peoples sleep is!

Some people are blessed to fall asleep easily and stay sleeping all night without interruption. Lucky sob's!
