So Ipswich must be feeling the same embarrassment today as we were in losing last week. Perhaps Preston aren't that easy to beat after all especially as it's been decided that Ipswich are far better than us in every way imaginable.

Early days in the Championship are often like this aren’t they? Preston were up there when we won the league last time, and by the time the season came to an end they were in a relegation fight.

It is the nature of the league I think, the scrappy nature of it can benefit some teams early doors, but soon enough that runs out.

To be fair the only team I’ve seen so far that look very good, as much as it pains me to say is Cov. They’re looking a genuine threat this season.

I’m aware im probably overly harsh on him but I can cannot stand watching Ayew. His obsession with winning fouls and holding onto the ball too long is actively harming our play.

Just release the ball!!

I remember when we signed him and a lot of Palace fans were talking about his ability to win free kicks, but I didn't realise it was his only thing. You can see the cogs in his head turn when he gets the ball: "right, get myself between the ball and opponent, now fall over".

Yeah was crap.

Keep playing Ayew upfront and we will keep playing with half of a pitch. Piss of piece to defend against us.

Playing Ayew means a centre half can follow and press him all the way in to our half, because he makes zero effort to turn his man and even if he did he hasn't got the pace to get clear of them. Noticeable as soon as Daka came on the first thing he did was try and spin Jones who had to bring him down, because Daka was gone

Exactly. Even if you don't play the long ball. It makes the opposition retreat in case of it.

Actually thought he had a pretty good game and like Okoli won lots of aerial duels, and showed a lot of leadership.

Charlton had 20 shots to our 6 yesterday, they got 7 on target and Jacob kept us in the game.

I think against Birmingham we end up loosing 4-1 if we're as bad.

Winning aerial duels and leadership is the very least you should expect from Vesty.

He's our best passer in defence and not a bad player, I just think he's to slow in general and we'll always get done in the transition with him in the team.

Not sure that was Vestergaard fault yesterday very few were caused by him being done I transition.

But I get were you are coming from!

Stats like this don't matter on this forum.

Our team has a toxic  atmosphere and in many respects the starting 11 hasn’t really played together.

Page, Monga, Abdul are almost like new signings.

Okoli, Hamza, Jakub, Thomas, Soumane, Skipp barely played last season.

We will get better over the course of the season

a few more outgoings and 2-3 good players in and we’ll be a good side.

If you watched that game from a Charlton pov Ayew caused them great frustration with his tanker turning circle and shot Elephant diving tactics

Memo to Sky, the viewers do NOT want to see Nathan Jones 86% of the time during the game.

Good point, but notice how Ayew came alive against Wednesday when Daka came on. He went on an unlikely run on the right, going past players to set up Daka's header. He's not the fastest, but he's not as slow as one would think.

Yes, yesterday we didn't get done in transition, mostly corners and mistskes from our inability to pass thru the press.

Look at his heat map yesterday, no wonder the team struggled.

Being realistic, coming away from the game with 3 points after being out played is preferable to losing after playing well.

i hope that once all the outs are out, we can bring in a creative midfielder and a striker, then see how we go. All the rumors currently on -going must be unsettling at Seagrave.  May be we need to clear the dross and start a complete rebuild with the younger players we have and some new signings from Europe.

looking at Arsenal v Leeds, the gulf in the EPL is huge.  To be ready to survive ‘if’ we get promoted any time soon, may require 2 seasons in the Championship.

Has Jones always been a bellend lol

I get that he thinks they could have won (5-1 is pushing it).

But the 'goal' was never going to be one because the ref blew for holding on our player before their guy even headed it lol

He was furious on the touchline as well. Maybe have a look at how their CB (Jones?) was lucky not to have had 2 yellows too...

Dafuc. There is biased and then there is Nathan Jones biased. lol

All game the ref allowed them to hold our players and tackle through our players. His centreback somehow escaped a yellow taking Daka down off the ball preventing a counter, so he could just do it again before finally getting a yellow.

Against an absolutely knackered Wednesday side, he got clear yesterday for his decent chance and they managed to get back in shape

Good afternoon,

I felt that was an interesting spectacle. Two sides who have had very different past decades. One of us won an FA Cup, had two European tours, and of course been crowned Champions of England, the other, 8 of the last 10 years in League 1.

Yesterday we played as equals for the first time in over 10 years, and it was quite refreshing to see we comfortably competed with you, and in the end, I felt hard done by to witness the loss.

I am curious from a Leicester point of view how we faired or any players which stood out (I'll have a read of this forum and the other)

Look forward to the return trip, and I hope you don't mind me sharing my vlog of the day, got a few of your fans/vloggers involved)

To be honest I saw a ex premier league club get lucky against a newly promoted division 1 team.

Scarily you were better then us, just the result didn't show the outcome
