lcfc sheff Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 Just now, South Shire Fox said: Far more areas that need priortising over another winger I agree but transfers don’t work that way. They don’t look at one position at a time. They’ll be bidding potentially on multiple players in multiple positions
moore_94 Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 Unless we are selling Mav I don't see the point in us signing another left winger Although Monga can also play on the right he has been doing well on the left so we should just crack on with him there More likely to get more game time on the left with his competition being Mav rather than on the right with Fatawu I think as well
Leicester_Loyal Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 Every summer we finally get rid of 3 or 4 overpaid dross, then we sign another 2 or 3 old overpaid dross, it's a never ending circle. Why are we even bidding for him, he's 30 years of age ? 1

JimJams Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 The thing is even if you were keen on him as a player, his key attribute seems to be his crossing. We currently have no real centre forward. As is, if we're going to add wide players we need players capable of cutting in and being a goal threat themselves. Presumably why a link to Solomon makes sense. We need a goalscorer through the door before we could take a player like this, and if we don't get one for the CF role then any wide players need to be essentially wide forwards rather than traditional wingers.
Dan Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 (edited) This is a proper red flag for me. I'm not knocking him necessarily as a player, he's clearly good at this level, but it's precisely the sort of deal, Winks like, his ceiling aged 30 is probably upper Championship - we should not be spending good money on that in this position, particularly on a position we're strong in already. We could maybe do with a winger on loan but it should be about 4th, 5th priority for us. Spending a big chunk of money on him would indicate nothing has been learned. Edited 30 August 2025 by Dan 1
Guest Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 If they have indeed made it clear that it'll take a "seriously large offer" then hopefully we take the hint and look elsewhere rather than obliging
Swarles Barkley Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 Either classic Leicester with shite transfer policy or a way to say we tried to sign players but nothing happened
Mickyblueeyes Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 I don’t want him. Not that I think he is no good or anything. I don’t want any wingers if we keep our current lot. I like the idea of Silko and Monga developing with Abdul and Stephy. Any signing on either wing hinders that development.
kingfox Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 We probably view him as a McAteer replacement. Pompey fans seem to love him, plenty regard him as their best player, some say they shouldn’t entertain offers under £10 million. If we whacked £10 million on Josh Murphy, they’d be quite the uproar, when that kind of fee should be going on a striker or central midfielder. He had a very good 24/25 season where he was one of the best wingers in the Championship, if he came and replicated somewhere near his assist output from last season, we’d probably end up loving him. But if we can’t get him in that £3-5 million price bracket, then sack it off and move on.
Chief Keef Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 I’d much rather Alves be given a chance. I personally thought he performed well for Cardiff out wide and at present backing up for Fatawu would be the ideal role for him.

JimJams Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 On match days when our kickoff times don't sync up with Newcastle do we reckon we could sneak Jacob in in his place? If so gerrumin.
JimJams Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 Apparently WBA are in for him just to allay any fears.
Iwebema Posted 30 August 2025 Posted 30 August 2025 If its cheap say £2m and hes in addition to a CM & a Striker. Then fine, I dont think its completely necessary, but no harm in adding depth. If its £5m+ and our only signing. Its insane 4
