Would just need to do what both Barnes and KDH did

Good loan in league one and then a good loan in the Championship

Yeah gives him time to develop, mature and gain confidence in his ability to play at the next level. Some players need time, not to be rushed and could make them better players in the end especially if your end product is to play in the middle of the park controlling the game.

Disappointed he's not in the squad, disappointed he's not going out on loan to a Championship club, but I guess this is the third best option. Just want him to get game time and show everyone what we think he's capable of. 30+ games for a promotion challenging team will be good for him.

Correct decision. He’s not going to get much of a look-in on the wing, especially as Silko Thomas now looks to be ahead of him.

Also Page is ahead of him centrally so let’s get him out and get him games. Unlike Cardiff, Huddersfield will be on the front foot in most of their games so hopefully we can see more of him offensively.

I just dont see the point in the way we have managed him. Just a complete absence of trust in him from our leadership.

We gave Cordova Reid 744 PL minutes but Alves cant get gametime for us in the championship. Even after Dewsbury Hall's succesful Luton loan he needed Soumare to flop to get a chance. It feels like Alves will always be fighting against a wave of incoming players to make it here, most of which won't even be any good. Same with the rest of the academy.

He has pushed for this because he wants more first team minutes than he will get here currently. Mature decision by him and good choice by the club. Disappointing as he's "one of our own" but he's playing catch up due to his serious injury.

Go and play will - I’m afraid it just isn’t going to happen for him here - he isn’t a kid anymore and he isn’t as good as people on here make out  - hope he does really well

get him out on loan, hopefully he's flying and full of confidence before we recall him in January and add him to our first team squad properly

Clearly not going to be the player we'd hoped given no city manager so far has fancied him. Has dropped behind Page and Silko Thomas in midfield, and was already behind McAteer on the wing. Unless we genuinely believe he's suddenly going to break through we'd be better off selling.

The club do believe he's going to break through. Not going to sell him. He signed a new contract and would be a ridiculous decision to just sell him.

you do realise its the player that's driving this loan move? He wants to get out and play its not the club saying he's not ready

He's 20 years old after losing a over a season to an ACL, Barnes was 21 and KDH was 22 before they broke though.

No but he's dropped behind a number of youth prospects and is leaving to get game time as he won't get it here.

Gutted for the lad. Had the world at his feet until that thug broke him in two. I personally would have given him the chance to step into Bill's shoes. His performances last season for Cardiff showed he is capable at this level. I appreciate he didn't have a great game in the league Cup, but he's not the only one. I also understand that Marti probably can't guarantee him a starting spot, a) due to internal competition such as Page/possibly Ayew if we buy a striker, and b) any potential incoming who are already at the level required.

I'm disappointed he's dropping down a division. It'll do his confidence the world of good, but I think he's capable of more and the club should be looking to loan him out to a mid tier Championship side.

Regardless of past potential, he is clearly not fancied by the current coaching staff basing their selections on current form/ability within the squad available.

However, as a promising academy product on a prosumably low salary, it should be the club's duty to do what is best for Alves's future rather then the club.

If he goes out on loan, has a good season, builds some form and confidence, but we fail to get promoted, then welcome back. If the former happens but we do get promoted, or if he has an unsuccessful loan, then let him go next summer for a fair price and with everyone's thanks and best wishes.

Still so much potential, but that injury set him back massively, no doubt about it.

I think he's gonna go there and have a great season. It will be just what he needs to kick start his career.

You can see there's still something there, but regular game time to convert that something into actual goals and assists and allow him to build upon the other side of the game, defensive work rate which is also super important these days.

Huddersfield are a good side and will be up there this year in league one, good move and I hope it's just what the young lads needs
