Sat working and have Sky Sports on in the background. It's the 2020 Papa John's final between Salford and Portsmouth and both keepers absolutely play out of their skins. Neither of them were ever letting a goal in that day (until it went to pens)

 

Got me thinking - what's the best goalkeeping performance that you've ever seen both for us and against us?

 

I remember Aaron Ramsdale being unbeatable against us once and also I think the Hereford keeper in a 0-0 draw in the cup (I think).

 

Kasper in the cup final sticks out but that's more a couple of big saves than being almost superhuman-like in being totally unbeatable. Did Russell Hoult play out of his skin on his unexpected debut?

 

Bonus points if you manage to avoid making any kind of Danny Ward joke as part of this thread.

Hermansen away at Arsenal last season.

 

Conceded 4 but should been double that.

He was ridiculous that night. Even more bizarre considering he was largely shite at villa other than that game, didn’t he drop the ball in his net but got saved because goal line tech was faulty which ultimately kept villa up the season before

Tim Flowers v Arsenal 99/00 FA cup

 

0-0 Won 6-5 on pens. Ironically Pegguy Arphexad came on and got all the plaudits for his penalty saves, but some of the saves Flowers pulled off that day were top draw. 

 

Just one of a few absolutely unreal performances from him. For 18 months he was absolutely incredible until injuries got the better of him.

This is the one that sprang to mind. I remember shouting at the TV it was that bad. And you just knew he'd probably have been shit any other game.

Kasper in pretty much any match from 16-17 Champo League campaign.

 

He was an absolute mutant in the onion bag vs. Copenhagen and Sevilla if I recall.

I agree that he deserves recognition but it wasn't that good of a performance as a whole. It wasn't like Chelsea were peppering us and Kasper pulled out save after save.

 

It was really only the big, big moment with the Mount save.

Also a very good full stretch finger tip save vs Chilwell's header earlier in the match
