That’s really sad. My wife had the same diagnosis a few years ago. There’s only a very slight chance of an operation.

Very sorry to read that x

Can't even imagine what it's like living with a terminal illness.

As a very wide aside I was Wikipedia-ing his career statistics and didn't realise how many PL games he'd played. He's had quite the personal life, based on that section, too...

Local boy from Whitwick, came to our school for the summer fete once.

Will always go down as the legendary hot dog kid.

Sad to hear he is so unwell.

Sad to see, the picture of him standing in the Kop just before he was called on the tannoy is an absolute iconic Filbo pic.

Was at the game and it was pretty drab from what I remember but to keep that decent Wolves team out under the circumstances was incredible

My Mum was a landscape gardener and regularly worked where his family lived close to Thringy, she would often get invited in for a cuppa as my Sister had been at school with his then partner and Mother of his kids.

Always said he kept himself to himself but very polite and would always ask how the family were doing.

Keep fighting Russell lad.

My Dad worked with his Dad at a local quarry when he started to come into the reckoning at City. Apparantly he was desperate to stay at Leicester, being a local lad, but other clubs offered longer contracts etc so he had to think of the long term plan and moved on. Sad to hear and just goes to show you never know what the future will bring

A chap at my work had the same cancer and was around the same age.

Remember watching Russel Holt play as a young kid at filbert Street behind the goal in the family stand.

Sad news

As a young keeper myself seeing him called down from the stands after getting his hot dog to make 2 great saves and keep a clean sheet aged what, 19?

That was the stuff of dreams.
