That was a shocking half, even by our standards lol

Some absolutely awful individual performances.

We were terrible even before the sending off.

They look as though they’ve never played together before

Go 4 - 3 - 2. Bring JJ, Daka and Carranza on for more legs. Keep it tight, nick two goals and win 3-2. Easy.

This would work and would probably win the game for us

Just take of soumare and bring on a striker

no one would notice the space

Marti has got his work cut out at half time with this load of tripe.

Well he can start by not picking some of this tripe Soumare, Skipp, Vesty.

What a shit show. Leicester a bit more shit than the ref.

Skipp and Soumare are like two moving cones not winning anything in that midfield.

Probably the worst half of football I've seen in a decade? Just all around we are abysmal. Even our best player (Fatawu) has been shite. Just depressing.

Should be. But the rules tell a different story in the modern game.

Given that the rules are what they are, and Ramsey knows that, it's beyond stupid from him. If you want to take a man out to stop a counter attack (because winning the ball was never on the cards there), you've got to slide and stay on the ground.

This isn't an argument about what the rules should be. It's about what they are, and Ramsey makes a moronic decision.

So by the rules, about 6 Oxford players should have been booked then?

Have to ask why Skipp and Soumare even started the game? What evidence has there ever been that it’s a good centre-mid pairing? Ever?

I wouldn’t start them but they both played well in the last game. Page is injured, James has one day training with us and who knows with Winks. The pairing was reasonable in the circumstances.

Shambles.

Worse midfield pair we have had in years.

Basically two water carriers that are crap at defending.

And the manager keeps starting them!

Oxford are shite but they want it more.

They're clearly not, if there shit, why we sitting behind from the start and have no intention to attack, they're attacking and creating, we're creating nothing, much better than us, we deserve to lose, this is our level, get use to it

Surely he can’t keep persisting with those two.

They are genuinely awful. Winks simply has to play, it’s been obvious since the first game.

Pathetic half

Were all over the place and seems to be no real game plan.
Not getting the basics right and still can’t defend..

What was Ramsey thinking with that tackle?
Need some changes at half time if we’re going to get anything out of this.

Without trying to focus on specific decisions too much, I’m not really sure what these phrases actually mean.

If you go in with a slide tackle, your studs are going to be off the floor and by definition you’re going to be out of control. You’re out of control when you shoot because that’s what momentum is. Now, ‘two-footed’ and ‘above the ball’ are far better phrases to indicate and unnecessarily dangerous tackle, because neither are necessary for a slide tackle.

I’ve not seen the tackle today but Bannan made a very normal slide tackle and was in no way above the ball. Collisions happen and people get hurt, it doesn’t need to be a red card purely for that reason. There’s always some risk.

The best way I could explain it is the Bannan/Winks challenge, both players went in similarly, Bannan leaned back and his foot/studs came up and became exposed, which puts his foot in a position that increases the chance of breaking a bone or seriously injuring a player, Winks on the other hand kept his toe pointed down for most of the challenge, so his studs were far less exposed and less likely to cause real damage

If your momentum in a tackle leads to your leg raising and your studs facing up as you naturally lean back, I'd consider that out of control. If you can keep your leg down and your studs facing towards the ground you're in control.

As I say, I wouldn't have given a red there, but if we want players to make sure they are fully in control of their tackles, players need to be punished, Ramsey put himself in a stupid position where it was left up to the referee to make a call, without VAR those calls can be even more difficult to make.

Well we can so good bye to going up

I think we'll be a different proposition once the Chuckle Brothers in the middle isn't the starting pairing but the centre halves really need looking at, too. Okoli isn't good and I've never been sold on Vestergaard, even at this level.

When the good players that are a level above this league starting looking like they are shit, responsibility lies with the manager
