Reg Vardy Posted 25 January Posted 25 January So as I see it, pay Andy King ( bit like we did Dean Smith incidentally) till the end of the season…..lovely man he is, but let’s say we get relegated ( like we did with Smith) King saunters off, with no real responsibility for failure….or put your Manager in who wants the job, and has a commitment to his and the club’s future and needs to succeed…..sorry but Andy King, club legend yes, but Manager to cope with pressure, toxic atmosphere, and ultimately failure, sorry but no If he keeps us up, do we give him the job on a permanent basis….your call
Angus Scott Posted 25 January Posted 25 January 1 minute ago, Nods said: No, do not give it King. It's an unpopular opinion but I always got the impression King lacks personality. He's regarded a club legend because he was there from League One all the way to the Premier League. And fair play, he was a good player for us. But I never understood calls for him to be the next birch. I've never understood the clamour for him to be involved with us any more than someone like, say, Wes Morgan. He strikes me as such a nothing personality. Professional? Sure. He's a good boy. Doesn't mean he's what we need right now. His appointment as coach was a typical King Power move, similar to keep giving him a contract as a player. Similar to giving Wes another year when he was past it. Similar to giving Matty James a new contract when he was permanently injured. They are all decisions to appease the fans, not reflecting on ability to do a job 1

The guy that gets his arm around you and is friends with everyone, which we need the polar opposite of right now. 2
DerbyshireFox Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Feel for Marti with the hand he’s been dealt, but it’s reached the point of no return. Yesterday was the final straw. We are unfit, tactically inflexible and clueless, no threat and defensively a shambles. It simply can’t carry on. If only Top would sack himself too. The calls for Kingy are entirely sentimental ones, which to a point I get because people want to feel a connection again. However at present he is not the right man and it is not the right time to be putting him in charge. Nobody would be shocked to see them go after Martin. He’s Tops wet dream come to life. Hopefully he’s sensible enough to not want it 🙏. We need a strong experienced manager, and with hindsight maybe Wilder would’ve been the better way to go in the summer. This job whilst a poisoned chalice, is still a job where someone could be driven by the thought of ‘if we get it right’. I fear an out of work sideways and backwards merchant will be the way we (have to) go, as we’ve been so criminally mismanaged that will be all we can afford.
HankMarvin Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Supporters chanted “you’re getting sacked in the morning” and “we want Marti out” as Leicester suffered a fourth home defeat of the season. “It’s not a pleasant situation as a manager and as a person because you want to do well for them and it’s sad that they feel this way,” Cifuentes said after the game. “At the same time, I know football is about results. “At the moment, there are a number of fans who are not happy with a lot of things. But as the manager you need to be accountable and responsible. We are working relentlessly every day to help the club, to try to improve the situation. “If there’s something that makes me feel self-confident, it’s that at all the clubs I’ve been at, I’ve achieved the target. I’ve been through different stages in my career and I always achieve that. “The target here is quite clear in what we want as a club and I will not stop working on it. I’m just focused on preparing the next game and improving the results. That’s where my focus is.” Well if he is working relentlessly, clearly he has ran out of ideas. Also what is the target? The only one he is on course for, is potentially avoiding relegation.
Katy Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Would love it if Kingy swooped in and rescued us but it’s not going to happen. It’s way too a big a job now, we need experience and a firm hand. 1
Les-TA-Jon Posted 25 January Posted 25 January I have little faith in us identifying or attracting a meaningfully better replacement - and the club will likely take 2-4 weeks to sort it
CL Fox Posted 25 January Posted 25 January King is a pal of rudkin so that tells you everything you need to know.
Aleksz Posted 25 January Posted 25 January My first interpretation of OPA’s tweet is that they’ve made their mind up they’re sacking him and are probably having to negotiate a lower pay off. 2
Leicesterpool Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Suggestions of naming Andy King as manager in the current situation is strange, name him as number 2 I get that perhaps learn from an experience manager for years to come but naming Andy King now would be suicide.

Mutual consent hopefully with a less of a pay off, as the price of his reputation not taking as much of a hit as being sacked.
Popular Post Sly Posted 25 January Popular Post Posted 25 January (edited) If they’d have given Dean Smith 5 more games, I think we’d have stayed up. That’s the crazy thing. Fans do jump and call For the inevitable early, however realistically this has been on the wall since October. Why they need a special board meeting to discuss this is just crazy. StanSP Posted 25 January Posted 25 January I'd take King but not with these kinds of players. They won't play for him. They don't play for the badge so fat chance of them doing anything else.
