He's too nice for what this club needs. We want him here as a club legend and coach, but he's not going to start clashing with the rotten apples and change the culture.

RVN tried that approach last season to disastrous consequences. We actually need someone who can operate somewhere in the middle, can earn the respect of the players and when needed have tough conversations. The days of managers giving players the hair dryer treatment and ruling with an iron fist and by fear disappeared a long long time ago.

Why do you want weak minded players on side? We need to raise the standards expected of the players (back to somewhere near where they have been prior) and half the players we have will need to be moved on, rather than gotten on side, to acheive that.

Preferrably before the current low standards seep too far into the youth teams which are the only promising thing we have left.

You don't need to rule like a dictator, but you do need strict enforcement of high standards which will inevitably lead to clashes.

I agree entirely but instilling a culture and professionalism isn’t mutually exclusive with being someone who rules with an iron fist. What I am saying is I could see Kingy do this given time.

He said in the presser Saddler is very good at having those tough conversations and he also knows the club well.

His starting selection will give me a hint to whether he could ever take the job full-time.

If Thomas, Ayew and Hamza are in the side then that will tell me all I need to know.

Was Saddler the bloke seen trying to get that Silva contract down to the KP to be faxed off in his beat up Focus?

Geordie isn't he?

Great point, I'm excited for today's game for the first time in probably 3 years, had Enzo stayed on into the premiership I may have felt that with him, he's a future Leicester city manager and I think from decisions that have been made since Enzo left he'd have at least performed to those standards, I hope they just come out and say he has it for the rest of the season, get a new guy in during pre season early, like they did with Enzo.

Not convinced that’s fair. We are threadbare. He’s going to play someone somebody doesn’t like.

For me it’s about the performance. If he plays Luke do we see a better game from him etc. I think it’s fair to say any manager would play one of those 3 today.

He's a Geordie yeah Pearson gave him a job as a technical analyst in 2014, he left when Enzo came in and Rogers gave him a first team coach job at Celtic when he went there. As for the Silva contract who knows, that clearly wasn't meant to be.

I agree, I'll judge the performance on the pitch not the line up.

He will know Thomas and Hamza and whether they are worth including very well, when we were near the top of the premiership and Thomas first got thrown in he did alright, its what tune he manages to get out of whoever is on the pitch. He didn't close the door on Winks which shows me I will keep an open mind based upon what I see and hear over the 3-4 days that I have had.

Possibly. Especially long-term, but I think there needs to be an element of bad cop in the transition at least.

I want Kingy to become leader of the youth & development squads before full-time manager to be honest. Which I think is what he wants too.

Who should he have at left back? Who should be up front?

Unlike the original poster I'll actually tell you who Aluko left back and Daka up top

Who would you want in the squad as available alternatives??

Well based on that line up, he’s a chicken.

Genuinely, what do you expect? Fair enough if he had a full squad to choose from but it's massively depleted. I'd back him to be picking the youngsters if he's been in the job since the start of the season or a few games in

This must be the first time in a while where 100% of the fan base is behind the manager.

Could change the mood of the place with a few wins!
