My point, and the main point I am making. IF Martì has identified Aluko as an option at LB, Say... 3rd choice (Which we know is wrong because both Hamza and Faes have been put there), let's play along that Aluko is this James Justin style LB. Then why in the **** would we let the U21s play him RB this season?

You asked why people 'assume' Aluko is a competent left back, it's because that was his main position last season where based off those performances he started making the first team bench as our backup left back. Cifuentes might not see it that way and but Aluko is definitely a viable option in that position, he can also play right back to a good level as well so no harm starting him there for the u21s.

He has pace and can carry the ball at speed, something none of our other strikers offer. 

 

At least even when he's playing poorly he still causes the opposition problems and will be in the game. Carranza and Daka are never in it and Ayew gets too involved in it.

Ordinarily I'd agree. But remember we will be playing Bob Reid and Luke Thomas. Effectively puts us down to nine men. In fact, although Bob is worse than Thomas, he doesn't actually concede us goals. Luke Thomas is a man down AND a (minimum) goal handicap. 

 

So we will line up v Middlesbrough with nine men and a goal down. Lose.

So we are at the stage where it doesn't matter what happens?  If he changes it he is desperate, if he selects Nelson he is just being a wet blanket. So he might be better off just keeping it he same?

I probably should have added to my post a bit.

 

Not what i'm saying at all, but when a manager is so set on a system and style... them straying away from that is usually a sign that they're panicking and the players are questioning their methods.

 

It's also not just about Nelson coming in, we don't particularly have the players for a 3 to work well. That's not his fault but it just smacks of panic. Nelson could still come in to a 4.

To be honest I’d reserve judgement, even if the team is leaked it’s never normally this early. I’ve never been sent the team more than an hour or two before it’s announced.

I think in those two instances he was unlucky and when your luck is out, it's out. 

 

Firstly, I think the header was instinctive and he just didn't have time to check his position or whether it was already goal bound, he just reacted. 

 

The second was a one in a hundred save.  Goal keeper just threw out a leg and unbelievably the ball hit his ankle from point blank range. 

 

I mean admittedly Mav has been crap all season but I think he was unlucky in those two moments.

All good teams have a dynamic midfield. Over the years we've  been spoilt with the likes of KDH, Maddison, Tielemans, Kante. We have a midfield now that just doesn't work for whatever reason. Last year in Winks and Soumare contract and they appear not bothered. Impressed with JJ but can't do it on his own. Winks isn't a tackler to get stuck in and now with Ramsey injured have no one at 10. Very worrying.
