Medium spicy: Losing Kasper when we did was a bigger loss to the team than losing Vardy has been.

That's a stone cold fact, not a hot take.

Although at the same time Kasper was arguably easier to replace.

Maybe my hot take is that we should have kept hold of Fuchs for another couple of seasons. Even at 37 he would've been better than the left back performances we saw that season which might have made that tiny bit of difference we needed.

Marti Cifuentes will take us back to the premier league

It's the Hot Takes thread not the Pipe Dream thread.

Monga hasn't hit the heights I expected him to....yet.

However good he looked at youth level, he isnt ready for a fcuking awful championship in a fcuking awful team for a fcuking awful manager.

He will be good in next seasons championship or Messi in League One:brendan:

Puel did a decent job for us.
He shouldn’t be put in the same bracket as Taylor, Holloway and Ruud.

Think we needed an unpopular manager at the time- move some of the PL winners on, refresh the squad. Unfortunately that seemed to include Vardy, which was probably his downfall (with fans and players alike).

His recruitment set us up for the FA Cup win and Europe.

I would argue the hot take is from the tiny number of people putting him in that bracket tbh, rather than your opposition to it.

The broad, borderline universal consensus would be that he was a bit boring and underachieved with the squad he had but oversaw a period of transition. Not that he was one of the worst managers we've ever had.

Fofana is the best centre half I've seen at Leicester (after Tunchev)

Agree on Fofana and was going to write something similar. People underestimate how good he was for us because of what a dickhead he is. Put in two of the finest performances I've seen from a Leicester defender firstly in the cup final and then against PSV. We missed him perhaps as much as Kasper although obviously he was never going to stay.

I want to agree with your second choice just because he is Bulgarian but... no. Very cultured defender but was playing one maybe two leagues below his level at the time. Nowhere near Elliott, Huth, Evans or Fofana.

Daka wont score another goal for us.

However, wherever he goes next (after his contract runs out - and will be a top tier league outside of England), he will score over 20 goals in a season and be regarded as one of the best strikers in the division. He will also score loads of belters.

My hot take, is that we may well have never collapsed if PSR wasn’t introduced.

I think our profile was established at that point and had we been able to continue spending what we wanted, we would have continued to fight our way at the top.

Whilst we’ve made honking decisions, you can’t understate the damage these rules did to us and they prevented us being able to operate the way we worked best.

im not excusing our board because they knew the rules and didn’t work hard enough to make the club operational for it but if they hadn’t come in ….  I don’t think the collapse happens.  Realistically, without the rules even if Brendan tanked, we would have been able to sack and replace with a decent manager early enough to recover.
