From The Sunday Times.  Unlike Bobby Huth, who says he goes to watch Milwall with his son, Fuchs is a self-confessed Leicester fan and was at the Hull game.

It remains to be seen whether him being a fan would help him or hinder him in managing us.

Brendon Rodgers did that after the fa cup loss at forest, and kept doing it until the day he was sacked

Rodgers tried to pretend the players threw him under the bus that day, when it was actually the other way round.

As Celtic found later on, he'll take responsibility for nothing..

Definitely not for me. He’s just a bit weird for my liking. Great left back, but an odd character.

Kept Newport up, but only just. This wasn’t any Brian Little like lower league achievement.

Played 31 won 9 drawn 5 Lost 17……a managerial record we are all familiar with….love the bloke but Nah……..

With probably the worst squad in league 2 with the smallest budget - we are in league one so we either get some has been or someone with potential - personally could buy into an ex-Leicester connection but more importantly he is bright and a winner - he will go on to have an exceptional management career if he puts his mind to it. His businesses are a success and he is ambitious - perfect mixture plus as an member of our greatest team he gains instant respect plus he is smart enough to deal with JR and Top plus the fans will get behind him generally ……no brainier for me!!!

Jose and other good managers are a bit weird too.

That said I’m not sure he’s the right choice and it would kinda show we are not trying to reset and make things better. As would t be on anyone’s radar if he didn’t play for us once. Same with wellens too.

We have hired Ruud, Cifuentes and Rowett he will 100% be on the radar we are shipping in a different league now in regards to managers.

Pleased for him but I don't want any legends having their legacies tainted by coming back to this swamp.

Yes that’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of it like that. Everything about that era was good and there was an incredible spirit in the camp with Fuchs in particular getting up to mischief! I remember two of his silly videos in particular, one where he and Huth are playing ‘red ass’ where they had to bend over and blast a football at each other from a few yards and another where he’s flicking Shinji Okazaki’s ears!

It was an era (Martin O’Neil’s and NP too) when I think supporters really felt like a real part of the club. It wasn’t about the winning, it was about the atmosphere created by players and manager at the time.

On the other hand, as most of the current dross will hopefully have left, with a bunch of kids and any new signings, Fuchs might just be the sort of personality to set the spirit alight again! We’d know how poor we are, no one expects to be winning every week, I think we just want to see a bit of effort and fight for the shirt!

The flies in the ointment being that we’d still have the useless Top, potentially craving his wish for his ‘passing’ brand of football (because he’s such an expert and connoisseur) and his backroom staff. Could you trust any of them to choose new players in the loan or free transfer markets?

Perhaps best save Fuchs for if we get a new owner?

It would be nice having a manager in that you really want to get behind. I could see it happening to keep most fans on side and even if it didn't work out it's not exactly going to tarnish his playing days here.

I don’t think rudkin will go anywhere near Fuchs.
way too intelligent and obviously would be very popular with the fans.

I think it will be down to the new technicial director.

Both excellent points.

Way too bright for our 'leaders'

He'd be calling out the shit show left right and centre

Yes, we need to be able to sing "(insert surname) out."

We don't want anything from the title win involving any of the players to go downhill, and ruin their legacy.

Let's face it, it probably will go pear-shaped at Leicester, so let's not taint the legacy.

It's why Shearer never took the job at Newcastle. In fact he did for a few games, but not enough to tarnish anything.

We need to be able to hurl abuse.

Not convinced he would be calling anyone  out in public. He seemed more diplomatic than that. I would think he could get things done without creating waves. Still not sure I would want him to risk his reputation here though.

Him risking is legacy and reputation. That’s up to him really. If he has the chance of the job, he might jump at it as he may feel it could be his only opportunity he might get it.

Not saying he's my first choice, but you've got to remember the context behind these numbers.

Previous Newport manager had 4 wins out of 22 games (18% win percentage). Fuchs got 9 wins in 31 (29% win percentage). He took them from rock bottom to fifth from bottom.

It's impressive for somebody in their first job to take over mid-season and turn around a club sinking like a stone, especially despite losing what many have described as their best player in Sammy Braybrooke.

Maybe but he's not ready for the Leicester job next season, maybe after another season if he gets Newport to the play offs.

Wellens, Savage or Lennon are all much more experienced than Fuchs and ex Leicester but no one wants them.

Fuchs probably has more potential than all 3 names you have mentioned, it's never to soon to take a job imo.

Sometimes it just works.
