He hasn't played for a year! Realistically you're looking at him getting up to speed in February at a push. He seems like a decent pro but I just don't think our fate at either end of the table hinges on this signing and all it does it shunt promising youngsters down the pack and kick the rebuild can down the road.

He'll score 5 goals as we finish 11th.

I agree with all of that, especially the last sentence and I genuinely think that is where we would take.

I just wish him the best of luck. I always dreaded us playing against whu when he was in their squad. If he can give us something different for this season as an impact sub, score a few and take the pressure off Abdul and Stephi, that’s fine by me. Give him a chance.

Okay - so we should sign players for the sake of it? Ones that aren't going to be the difference between life above this division or in it? When we're in the dirt financially? Have a think, Christ

Did i say we should?  Christ...

Would expect he'll be wanting top dollar.

If he's fit enough to play then has to be worth a short term pay as you play deal. As long as someone sensible negotiates a suitable wage.

Current strike force just isn't good enough

Daka runs around a lot but no end result.

Ayew not in the mix enough and in my opinion is a better sub than a starter come on and put self about for last 20mins

Carranza obviously not fancied by Marti and hasn't been given enough minutes.

Money aside, I remain open-minded about this.

That comeback video is very inspiring. For him to come back and try to play again when he could have just taken his sweet time and retired in luxury is no mean achievement.

He must be so motivated for a final swansong. He may even look at the longevity of some players like Vardy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewandowski who just keep on going and think, if I get myself right, I've got maybe a few years left in me.

The odds are stacked against him because of the nature of his injuries, and there's no doubt that he was a prize idiot for the way in which he suffered them, but he was unplayable on his day. It's a HUGE if, but if his fitness is at least Championship level, he'll be an asset, of that I have no doubt.

I just think the club needs to be looking beyond this season and getting a couple of young strikers in. There are 18 Championship players that have scored 6 or more goals this season we have 3 strikers with 4 goals between them only 2 from open play. .Are none of those good enough? Why you we seen to go for targets nearing the end of their careers on big money.

He’s in no position to demand top dollar. Any club that signs him will be taking a massive gamble. Nobody is going to offer him silly money.

He’s made a career out of his physical attributes, he’s nearly 36 and he was involved in a terrible car accident.

It’s going to take him an age to be match fit and regain his sharpness - which he might not do at all. He’s not going to come here for 5k a week either.

This exactly the sort of decision making that leads us to signing him and extending Vestergaard’s deal.

Yeah the more I think about this, it's hard to see how he has anywhere near the impact he was able to have in his prime.

I'd much rather save the money rather than have 4 blunt attackers. Problem is, in training he's up against our defenders and he probably looks like his prime self against Thomas and Vestergaard lol

Also when they say he looks sharp in training he is being compared to blokes that have scored four goals between them all season

He's only training with us.

No co-incidence this comes in a week following the rumours of Winks poor attitude in training.

If he's an experienced pro with a good attitude, it can only be a good thing that some of this is passed onto the youngsters

Similar mindset with the Begovic signing

Unless his agent is a total idiot he will know that he isn’t getting a contract with a PL team so we are realistically about as high as he could aim.

He should also understand that he isn’t going to get anything beyond the end of this season because any sensible club will want to check on his fitness … ah, I see the problem.
