A fit Antonio is definitely an improvement on what we have. The concern will be that with him coming back from a major injury, he will sustain secondary injuries like Rambo and Ricardo have in recent times. As soon as he’s having to stretch, sprint and change direction in a competitive match. I just can’t see him being able to stay fit after such a significant injury, also considering his age and his time out of the game.

How about a PL youngster on loan?

I can Google search some but surely the point of having a scouting network, is to do exactly that?

Sorry that I can’t get remotely excited about a 35 year old, who smashed both his legs in a car crash and hasn’t played a competitive game in over a year.

Strangely a cv like that seems to put him to the top of our scouting network! I wonder if they actually ever physically leave the premises of Hotel Seagrave and go and watch a match?

He won't have to worry about players crossing or threading balls to him to run onto unless we get another manager.  If he can be the anti Ayew hold up player to bring others forward then he will be an instant improvement.  This club has an issue with short term thinking that means we get stuck with dross.  Pay per game on a Championship wage

Remarkable how they've still not learnt what got us in this mess, signing players with big experience and good appearance records for the sake of it. The key to success is to put together a team, scout properly and sign potential. Signing has-beens and never-beens is the recipe for our decline.

A one legged Antonio is better than the current shit we have on display!!!

If he’s been training with us then we are in an ideal position to assess whether he will be good enough & fit enough to improve the team.

This is correct, we have been proven to be an excellent judge of exactly this for a while now.

While I think he improves the team (let alone the squad), I think most sane people now acknowledge we’re unlikely to go up. Particularly if we have a points deduction. Given this I think I’d rather give Evans 6m off the bench.

But we could be at risk of going down.

I mean this may age badly… But even if we got -12pts we’d basically be level with the two other relegation candidates (with 1 place filled already). They’re picking up 1pt per game vs us at about 1.4. While we’re often poor you’d hope over half a season we’d have enough to put the points in the board needed to pull clear.

It’s one of those type of signings you just can’t call and have to see what happens…

You’d like to think he’s shown something in training to warrant them taking a risk on him, but equally we’ve taken a risk of players who clearly aren’t anywhere near the level of player we need.

He obviously older, and has just come back from a pretty nasty car accident. Will he anything like the Antonio of old? I’m dubious…… perhaps he has one more good go left in him? If so it could be inspired?

I don’t really know, my preference would be to go for a younger player, but they obviously want a bit of his experience….

Just a case of waiting and see.

The "Antonio of old" was a 10 goal a season striker, lol

Lets be clear about our expectations, he's bobbins. But he can't be any worse than Carranza and Daka contributing nothing and Ayew chipping in with **** all but pens.

He played a few games for the West Ham academy apparently looked decent, they just didn’t offer him a new deal.

I’m trying to convince myself that this will work……
