Fatawu at 19 obliterated the chances created record in a Championship season.

This season he's on 4 goals and 7 assists in 25 games despite having to play in the most tepid team you've ever seen.

Leif Davies generated the most chances in a single season when we last got promoted with 125 and getting 21 assists? Which is the record I believe?

Fatawu is good and did great things. Numbers wise though as your sort of expect, is output is slightly down per 90 minutes than in 23/24, as he’s having to do more himself plus he’s coming back off a bad injury.

He’ll have a steady mid table Premier League level career I’d imagine, however If we get north of £35m I do think we will cash in.

Fatawu created 32 big chances in 2023/24. The next most in a Championship season was 23.

Leif Davis managed 15.

But he’s our outlet 9/10, he’s been below par for more games than not IMO.

Which isn’t totally on him, Marti’s lack of tactics are a big reason for this.

But, I stick with my original point, Abdul has a PL ceiling but his value will only decrease the longer that he’s here.

We will sell him either this window or the summer, it’s nailed on.

Yep, I also can’t see any other outcome. I don’t see us getting promoted any time soon and think we will miss him when he’s sold.

If we had a proper system in place like we used to, we’d sell him now; sign 2/3 players with the money (that includes James)

Need to be thinking about next season as much as this one

Spot on.

Our fans expect unreasonably expect so much from our players. Fatawu gets so much grief because he does the odd stupid thing. He’s a frustrating player but that’s mercurial wingers for you.

Yesterday was a case in point, double up on, starved of the ball and yet he’s capable of being the most decisive player in the division.

Morons on here will he giddy at £35m saying he’s a good player and we’ll take it all day long. We’ll spend £7m on Rhian Brewster to replace him and the rest will be frittered on wages

Would still be about our most productive winger tbf.

He is a real talent, and young, with lots of potential. I'm sure he'll have offers from Prem clubs and fully expect him to go this window or in summer.

"Leicester are notoriously poor at selling"

I would imagine the general footballing world would consider that to be bullshit.

Sold Barnes for £38m, Newcastle bought Livramento as a second choice fullback for up to £40m.

Maddison went for £40m.

Castagne about £5m less than we paid for him.

KDH for £30m and Golding coming back the other way for £5m.

Fofana probably about market value at the time.

Chilwell at £45m probably fair, should have extracted bit more maybe?

We've rode the coattails of Man United stupidly buying Maguire on the back of the world cup for a very long time.

MV & what they were worth to us different things but

The only players to go under MV were Maddison & Castagne & that was due to relegation.
Fofana went for double his MV (€40m) & 3yrs later he's only worth around a 1/3 of that fee we received (€80m)
Barnes (despite relegation) , Chilwell & KDH all went for a little over their MV

Fatawu's MV is currently only €20m but what we can get for him is  :dunno:

By market value I didn’t mean trasnfermarkt’s - they’re always ostensibly wrong. By MV I mean similar profile posters moving for similar prices.

Look what Dibling went for vs Barnes - who’d just scored 13 PL goals as we went down

I get what your saying but using Dibling & Barnes as the example, I guess the fact it was Dibling’s 1st season in the Premier league and he shone, he was only 18 & the biggest factor, there were 17 clubs in for him which would have bloated his value way out.

It did but they paid for potential, the potential to score double digits.

Southampton managed to get as much for “Nunes” as we did for Maddison!

Maguire and Fofana were absolutely ridiculous.

Drinkwater, at the time, was also probably a bit bonkers.

I agree everything else we've done par or worse. But people have known how desperate we are financially. They've known we need to sell because we made massive losses and we also ridiculously over pay on contracts which makes it for us to ever get rid. We're just a mess.

We're not great in the transfer market at all, really. Even when our target acquisition is good (and even now it still is occasionally, hence Fatawu), the financials around them tend to be poor. We almost certainly overpaid for Abdul in the first place, all things considered.

Fatawu worked out but imagine if he was a dud and had to pay £17m or whatever it was lol. Great bit of traditional scouting given the lack of data.

Every deal we negotiate costs us probably 10-20% more than it should. Then probably more like 25% in wages.

No other club in the world would have paid even 80% of the Skipp fee. Then the wages are crippling so we can’t offload them, we pay some of the wages whilst on loan and then leave for a free.

I’m not numerate enough to do it but you could essentially work out what Rudkin has cost the club in relation to an average DoF in fees, wages, opportunity cost, free transfers, lack of CL qualification. Not far off half a billion, genuinely.

It’s all sort of abstract I suppose but it’s insane about 50% of our fans are just fine with this
