Guest Posted 10 January Posted 10 January Our only player to feature in every league game so far and started all of them to boot, still pretty young and not that long recovered from a very serious injury. If you're not going to give him a rest for a cup game against a bottom half League Two team then realistically when are you?

I don't think any team with a serious interest in signing him would be dissuaded by him not being able to play in the FA Cup for them this season, personally. Was looking like he could do with a rest, was given one when it made the most sense to do so - if he moves, he moves, but I don't think him playing or not playing today will have had anything to do with it either way. 2

coolhandfox Posted 16 January Posted 16 January I just think we will want a crazy fee for Fatawu and there are cheaper options around. Yes we need money, but I don't see us cashing in this window. 1

Yes we need money, but I don't see us cashing in this window. Also he's considerably dropped off since his injury/Enzo leaving. We're a squad of individuals and his individual quality has helped him score more goals but his output in terms of chance creation has fallen off a cliff. No Premier League side is going to employ a winger that only wants to shoot. He needs to get back to being more of a team player. I appreciate that none of our attackers are on his level and he really misses the likes of KDH and Vardy but if he wants to get to a point where Premier League teams are serious about dropping £30m on him then he needs to show he can regularly create again. I think he's in danger of turning into a bit of a one-trick-pony. In our last Championship season he created 32 big chances in 33 starts. In this season he's at 7 in 26. 1

Both stats need to be taken into context. What those as a % of big chances the team are creating.

Pliskin Posted 16 January Posted 16 January Sunderland are throwing some serious cash around. If the right bid comes in, he will go. I can see him wanting to leave too if a bid is put in, especially with a World Cup on the horizon. As much as I rate Abdul, and I think his inconsistency has been largely thanks for Marti’s deplorable tactics….. if we get anything close to £30m we have to take it, his injury places him at risk for me…. Only problem is, it will finish us, because we won’t reinvest it in this window, so losing him could be fatal for us.

I'd imagine that if he's only cost £3.5m that Fatawu would be significantly better. Sounds like he's more one for the future.
Foxes96 Posted 16 January Posted 16 January Get Dennis Cirkin coming the other way in any deal would solve our LB issues. Wasserman client, been mostly a backup for them this season, and in the last 6 months of his contract at Sunderland. Got to be a deal to be had 1

AjcW Posted 16 January Posted 16 January Wouldn't be massively surprised if they've bought that lad to use as a loan makeweight. No way they're starting a £3m winger.
