I have in previous seasons often said to prioritise the league over the cup but that's when we've had something to play for. Promotion to the prem. Relegation battle in the prem. Fighting for european places. This season we're playing for mid table. We're absolutely shite, but even with a points deduction, we're not getting relegated. Marti is crap, but hes got enough about him to lose a couple, then win a couple, hence why his job isnt in danger, because we haven't and aren't likely, going to go on a huge run without winning. A cup run generates cash and could also regenerate some interest from many of our fanbase who are finding it very difficult to get excited about anything leicester at the moment. Also add in the fact that Southampton are absolutely shite and haven't kicked on after their initial new manager bounce when they beat us.

Prize money is £127k, that's barely going to pay Daka for 14 days.

We get a ridiculous number of away draws thinking about it.

2025/26 - 3/3 away

2024/25 - 3/5 away

2023/24 - 5/6 away

2022/23 - 5/7 away

2021/22 - 3/5 away

Do we think anyone in the 92 has has more than 73% away draws over the last 5 seasons? Other than teams who play one away each season and are out immediately.

Can we just choose a neutral venue half way in between Leicester & Southampton and play a double header for the league fixture as well… saves a sh*tty midweek game as well🫣

Interestingly, Leeds stand out. And I only know this because I saw a Reddit post about it!

Now I've decided to check that. Between 20/21 and 25/26 (this season) they have had 9/13 away games. Although 2 of these away games were third round defeats. Going back 2 previous seasons (18/19 and 19/20) they also lost in the third round but these were both away games too.

There might be other teams too of course. I might be wrong but off the top of my head Brighton seem to be away a fair amount (won at Old Trafford this week and in the 4th round are away at Anfield).

We seem to have a lot of aways as pointed out though.

Be interesting if someone could graph the past 5 years. Man Utd always seem to be at home, on the other hand.

I think Leeds was notable due to being 13 away in a row. Not sure anyone holds the data on this.

Honestly yes, and with a win we'd suddenly be another decent draw off of the quarters.

Remember the cup runs through the years previously, Dublin's winner at Charlton or Nugent's winner at Norwich.

Right up there for me.
Also chuck in Leo & Schlupp at Spurs, unreal

That's too positive lol

Although based on recent months, I'm not sure that would make it's way back to them.

Ok, I’m retired so nothing better to do and have done the maths on this.

The probability of 19 away draws or more out of 26 is 1.45% which means if we are only looking at the 92 league clubs we are probably either the most unlucky or second most.

For Leeds, the probability of 9/13 or more is 13.34% so they only sit in the top dozen or so unlucky clubs.

If anyone wants any similar records checking shout up, it takes seconds to do.

If it is 13 in a row the chances of that are about 1 in 10000

Saw a tweet earlier that Leeds actually get even more.

As teams accumulate more cup games over the years the % home and away draws should get closer to 50-50. Is this the case, for example comparing the last 10 years with the last 50 for us, or comparing us with Man City over the last 10 years?
