If Covid was such a big problem, why did we change our approach and take real risks in the summer following the pandemic? Surely that is where you carry on with the trusted policy given the uncertainty?

The problem was we bought dross like Daka, Bertrand, Vestergaard, Faes, Soumare all of which have proved to be a total waste of money. All on big wages which has impacted PSR. We were gambling on these paying off which clearly they haven't. Need to get back to recruiting quality players which is easier said than done though.

Reads like a typical Donald Trump press conference to me - just a combination of rhetoric, pointing the finger of blame in completely the wrong direction and utter stupidity!

I know there is anger and I’m not an apologist for Top by any means, but in an ideal world he wouldn’t be our owner - the nature of family run businesses meant that he inherited the club (and the rest of the business empire and associated wealth) at the very young age of 33. He had to deal with the loss of his Dad and effectively take on Vichai’s mantle at the same time without any proper time or orderly handover. To add to all of that, it’s not much more than a year into his new role that the worst pandemic in history rolls in and changes the game entirely. That is a pretty rough hand for anyone to play, so I think he deserves a bit of humanity in the reactions to all this. The fact we moved on and had more success with the FA Cup should still be celebrated and maybe he could have left at that point - great idea in hindsight, but who would have wanted that in the glow of satisfaction after the Cup win? It would have been seen as bailing out.

At that point, he was also just continuing a legacy that seemed to be working. Yes, we have subsequently fallen away - some decisions have not been great, but it’s been the first real tough time we’ve had to come through in his time with us and he just hasn’t had the business experience to make the right calls at the right time. But nobody can say he’s done this on purpose - there would be no financial or emotional reason for him to do that. It’s just a sad chapter that we’ll either see through with Top to better times or he’ll sell out and we have to cross our fingers that we get a person or group with the magic mix of experience, charisma and luck that brings success back to the club.

He says he doesn't understand how we got relegated. There was supposedly an internal review conducted to get to the bottom of why. Assuming it was ever actually done, he's clearly not aware of the outcome then 🙄. How great to have such a clued up Chairman.

(And yes, I am aware Rudkin will have lead it and seemingly come to the conclusion that Stowell and a few others should be sacked... effectively to save himself from the spotlight)

Clearly wasn’t just that summer though (2021). If it was, we’d finally be free of it this summer.  What about

Faes (overpaid and a bad apple) 22
Souttar (overpaid) Jan 23

Kristiansen (overpaid and crap) - Jan 23

Winks (overpaid and a bad apple) - 23

Coady (overpaid and crap) - 23

Vestergaard new contract - 24

Ayew (past it) - 24

Skipp (I like him but huge overpay) - 24

Eduoard and Carranza (bizarre loans)

Thomas new contract - 25

Thats just the dross we have signed/given new contracts to. Or in the case of Skipp, dross is harsh but overpaid. I haven’t even included people like BDR on there as he was a free transfer and despite what people say, it’s the type of signing Pearson would have made.

But that’s just players who we have thrown fees and inflated wages at. If lessons had been learned, this wouldn’t still be happening.

You sound like a Facebook dweller. Sorry.

Top does come across as a bit of a soft touch. Considering he’s inherited a multimillion pound company he definitely needs to be more ruthless.

Why would he be though, he's a billionaires son, everything he's had has been on a silver platter

So in summary it's a sly dig at the fans and Rudkin isn't going anywhere. Brill!

The very small club in the Midlands line made me laugh.

We aren't Shepshed Dynamo lol

Leicester, a good club and bad decisions

Jan 27, 2026
 Paid

What has befallen Leicester City is a painful sequence of events that fans at other clubs beware: a naïve owner; a succession of bad decisions; stars sold; overpaid under-performing players; sluggish football; managerial churn; disconnect between fans and board and fans and team; a controversial director of football; and the tyranny of excessive, unsustainable wages leading to PSR woes.

Five years ago this week, Leicester were proudly third in the Premier League, and were soon to win the FA Cup. Now they struggle in the Championship. Even geo-politics intervenes with the business belonging to Leicester’s owners, King Power, hit by a slowing of airport retail because of Covid.

Fans everywhere will also recognise the few rays of sunshine amidst the storm: the hope offered by some promising academy players breaking through at Leicester; the hope offered to society’s disadvantaged by big-hearted fans running a foodbank before this weekend’s game with Charlton Athletic; and, despite the many problems, the fans still turning up to support, albeit more in hope than expectation.

Leicester’s demise is still a warning to many and should also be a source of widespread sadness: a well-run provincial club that dared to defy the established order of London and the North-west, employed a charismatic manager and recruited brilliantly. Leicester’s title-winning squad was assembled for £72m, including such gems as £560,000 Riyad Mahrez, £1m Jamie Vardy and £5.6m N’Golo Kante, all scouted by head of recruitment Steve Walsh. Leicester overturned the odds and footballing tenets. They fought the lore – and won.

Leicester currently celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of football’s greatest fairy-tales, their 5,000-1 title glory, all a counterpoint to their mess in 2026. They are 34th in the pyramid, looking for a new head coach, chief executive, commercial director and technical/sporting director, and are at risk of sinking into a relegation fight if a chunky points deduction comes in for breaking PSR rules.

And yet their chairman, Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha, talks this morning in a series of interviews from Sky Sports to the BBC and print, of promotion back to the Premier League. He should focus on galvanising the club and team to confront the possibility of falling into League One. He should focus on rebuilding connections directly with fans, many of whom have lost faith in him for many reasons…

The way he talks down to people winds me up lol

He just trots out generic phrases and acts like its some insightful comment that nobody understands.

He seems to be under the impression that fans want us to win every game 3 0. Then just laughs off his imaginary scenario and says something like "its not that easy".

Dowsnt acknowledge or take accountability for any causes of the problems. Just a generic, "its my fault". Cheers, thats reassuring.

Then more empty promises of "were gonna do some stuff, then fans will finally get it"

He's just completely dense. There is no excuse for him being this bad.

Confirms all of the worst fears - but then none of it would be a surprise if you were somebody who went off actions rather than words.

This only ends in administration.

Our fans should honestly be terrified reading some of these quotes. He’s utterly delusional.

I really want to know what Jon Rudkin has over him too.

He doesn’t have a clue about football and it shows.
