SB87_LCFC Posted 6 May Posted 6 May Reyes Cleary for me 22 goal involvements at Barnsley and has looked a real player. Brum and WBA in for him so if locality is a pull for him to move, surely we'd be in with a chance? Be an upgrade on Mavididi 1
RowlattsFox Posted 6 May Posted 6 May I mean we've been shit at signing players whatever the level in recent years but I worry about how much knowledge we have in regard to signing players at league 1 level. They will chase 'big names' and try to get them to drop a level rather than looking at players on the up. 3

LCFCCKEANO Posted 6 May Posted 6 May (edited) Should be sniffing around Donley(Oxford haven’t taken the buy clause) and Lankshear from spurs (I know, PTSD). Both have EFL track records and would come in and perform immediately Edited 6 May by LCFCCKEANO

Loan wise, they have already been out to the Championship so it’d be a backwards step to drop back down to L1 for both of them. Think players like this will be out of reach to be fair.

If they stay up, they will as you say, either be in the fold there or another Championship move, to a club, with all respect to Oxford, is a step up and expected to challenge at the right end. Donley did L1 last season with Leyton Orient. Lankshear has also done the Championship to an extent he would not drop down to L1. There’s a lot of unrealistic shouts on this thread to be fair. Ballard, Pierce Charles also. Probably Tolaj as well.

I think any significant fees are unrealistic but we are a huge draw and even an extra 2k p/w for some of these players would be a huge salary increase. Without sales first it’s just hard to know what our budgets will be like. Say Ballard for £4m probably isn’t unrealistic if we can offer him £12k per week - we’re probably still a more attractive proposition than Preston

Not sure why locality would lead to him choosing us.

Sankey93 Posted 6 May Posted 6 May Reyes Cleary Lorent Tojai Bamba Dieng Archie Collins all 4 for league one would be a cheat code but I can’t see any if these coming unfortunately. We need new - GK LB RB CB CM LW RW ST x 2
lcfc sheff Posted 6 May Posted 6 May Hopefully we are looking abroad, there is a great chance to pick up players in obscure places. It would offer us are best chance of creating a team that’s not just league one promotion but potential to do well in the championship the season after

Norwich done wonders looming at playing from Australia and US/Canada too. 3

As in the prospect of being local to home. I vaguely recall one of the reasons Maddison joined us initially from Norwich was to be closer to Cov. There could also be an argument he would play more frequently for us, whereas a move to one of the others he might only be a bit part player Edited 7 May by SB87_LCFC
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 7 May Posted 7 May Plymouth had 3 players last year that I would love us to sign. Lorent Tolaj, Malachi Boateng and Alex Mitchell.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 7 May Posted 7 May (edited) After all likely departures and the free agents that have now left I honestly think we are going to need around 10 players this summer. Centre back - I would want us to get Alex Mitchell from Charlton, played at Plymouth last year and would put his head through a brick wall. Pair him with Souttar. £1.5m should get it done. Left back - Max Lowe would be the preferred option on a free. Should he stay in the championship, Steve Seddon from AFC Wimbledon is a good shout, slightly older but got a wand of a left foot contributing to 9 goal contributions this year and out of contract. 2x centre mids - I know there has been discussion about Archie Collins from Peterborough but my preferred options would be Malachi Boateng from Plymouth and Owen Bailey from Doncaster. Both players had a combined 30 goal contributions last year but they’re defensive contributions also stand out. £5m for the pair should get it done. Attacking Midfielder - Bobby Pointon from Bradford city is a lad I like. Only 22 years old, he has a natural eye for goal. More of an goal scoring midfielder than a creative one but someone who I think would score 15+ in a side that’s expected to dominate and have plenty of chances in front of goal. £2m to get him signed. Right Winger - Amario Cozier-Duberry from Bolton. Getting him on loan might be difficult after performing so well in league 1, he would be one of my top targets that I would go all out for to sign. £4/5m might get him on a permanent deal. 2x Left Winger - Reyes Cleary from Barnsley. Linked with him in the past, hammer of a right foot but his creative stats impress me the most. Barnsley turned down bids of £2.5m last year, £3m should get it done. Louie Barry on loan would be my second winger, not blown any trees recently but offers versatility to play on both sides. 2x Strikers - Lorent Tolaj from Plymouth. He just feels like a natural goal scorer but similar to Cleary his assist contributions just show he’s an overall package up front. Him leading the line in that front 3 I think would be successful in the championship let alone league 1. Ross Stewart on a free would be my second striker, offers something different and could cause problems at this level. £3m similar deal Richard Kone went for last year. The majority are young hungry players who would dramatically bring the wage bill down, would leave you a squad of: GK - Stolarczyk, Begovic, Bausor RB - Hamza, Aluko, Joseph CB - Soutts, Vesty, Mitchell, Wilson-Brown, Gray LB - Lowe, Thomas, Joseph CM - Boateng, Bailey, Skipp, Braybrooke, Page CAM - Pointon, Alves, Page RW - Cozier-Duberry, Barry, Thomas ST - Tolaj, Stewart, Opoku LW - Cleary, Barry, Alves Edited 7 May by Bluearmyfox28
