What you need to understand is that even when not involved these players benefit us as their very presence puts pressure on the others to perform in order to keep their place (my theory on the relevance of Inler on our PL win - made Drinkwater play his b*****s off) - hence the recent outstanding form of……..oh hang on the argument falls apart now :dunno:

My only thought process for giving him minutes would be for his physical presence and the opportunity to build some form of confidence to pose a threat to the opposition goal. I know Aribo is the more experienced player, but he's not going to provide any real contribution to goals/assists when we potentially need him too later in the season. I'd rather us give players like Richards 10-15 minutes now incase we lose someone like Fatawu/Mav at any point.

If he's primarily considered as a wide player, perhaps it's his defensive contributions that are keeping him out of the side, and also why Monga isn't getting much of a look.

This season both Mavididi and Fatawu can also be questioned in this regard but they do also have records of tracking back and winning the ball deep in our own half.

While things are tight in terms of points and by the way we can sometimes capitulate in games, I guess opening up even further is a risk too far for Rowett right now.

In a team brimming with confidence and winning games comfortably with regularity, with players ensuring everyone is accountable to each other on the pitch, maybe Richards would have had some opportunities by now.

One thing that season does prove is how much difference is makes having good squad players happy to be good squad players. We don't even have players happy to start for us now.

If I was Lorenz Hutchinson or Jake Evans I'd be raging we're bring in less proven players than them to take up a squad number.

Seems to me we have an obsession with Chelsea youth.

I mean, they have probably the best academy in England and have done for 10 plus years. Could be worse obsessions like Southampton..

Think its safe to say this bloke was a panic signing though

Bare goals.

Any goals will do. Bare, un-bare. Helps if he plays though

Genuinely might overtake Jermaine Beckford's "Weak people feel pressure" as the worst new signing interview quote we've ever had.

Every window we must sign a forward that never plays. Edouard, Carranza & Richards I look forward to the summer 2026 candidate

There’s got to be a useless twat out of contract in four months that we could sign to be that guy next season.

Think Richards is out of contract, wouldn’t be shocked if the loan was to get a proper look at him before potentially bringing him in rather than for him to play much this season

No, we do what we did with Aluko: give him no minutes, then suddenly need him and throw him on for his first start from nowhere.

Then we can go back to completely ignoring him.

can I introduce you to Jordan Ayew? fits that box perfectly

I'm probably atypical for this place in that I give players a lot of time but his application in the little time he's played has been shocking. No urgency on or off the ball

Annoying that he gets minute when Hutchinson or any number of the under 23s are just as developed as this guy. Completely signed to appease fans and nothing to do with ability

Im guessing Theres an element of truth there, ultimately we were light of CF’s and as fans you want to see the clubs recruiting in a position were massively lacking, especially with how important the second half of this season is

What it has identified is just how poor the recruitment is, didnt we play Chelsea 23’s just before the window shut? Lazy/impulse recruitment has probably seen him play, thought he had attributes that would help for pennies and be seen as a great decision. We also have a fascination with ‘elite academies’ over our own. Turns out the guy can’t even play as a CF before we even start to discuss his overall quality/application 🤣

**** me everyone loves to point fingers. Point the fingers at the people responsible. This guy is not the issue. If anything it could be smart to have a look in his last year of contract to snap him up If Chelsea don’t take the option.

the problems today were starting Ayew and Choudhury, and taking too long to make changes. Oh, and Nelson. Not even an inch of blame of this guy
