How can Lyndsey Vonn be competing in the downhill with a ruptured ACL ?

And she crashed out early on

how on earth did they allow her to take part ?

What was she expecting to happen?

Brave, yes. Should probably have been saved from herself.

And she has ruined the chances of all those who will come after her (because the time delay means the course will be slower) which pretty much means her team mate now wins (of course it’s not related that it’s an American in 1st place )

Yes unfortunately was a big risk that failed

Did the BBC really need to keep cutting back to the site of the crash with live audio so that Vonn could be heard screaming in agony? Thought the coverage of the incident as a whole was really weird but that was particularly egregious.

I'm also annoyed that we didn't get to see the end of the event. 8 skiers still to go when the course hold for Moreno's crash ended. Conditions meant it unlikely that someone would go faster, but in theory you still had the faster skiers in qualifying to go, so it's not as if it was the tailenders. Cut instead to the men's 10+10 skiathlon, then a few round up clips and talk about events coming up and away to the men's parallel giant slalom that wasn't at the quarter finals stage yet.

And the delay meant that the girls that followed had to take bigger risks to try and get on the podium which led to at least two of them falling

I wonder if events like today will lead to authorities taking control of whether athletes can take part in events by needing a doctors certificate (as a horse would have a vets certificate)

Enjoying some of the camera shots, drone really adds something in the these type of events.

Well apart from when it gets too close lol

Good chance for a medal or two tomorrow apparently in the snowboarding particularly but we'll see.

Sometimes these hopes go totally up in flames or should it be fall flat in the snow!

They have no control on what is shown. Its a feed from the olympics themselves.  Discovery plus/TNT had the same feed and had the same issue later on when the 2nd woman crashed. Their co commentator ended up saying she was turning round as she couldn't keep watching them replay it again and again.

Not like the summer Olympics with some guys in the studio and stuff to cut back to.
