In reality 6 points wouldn't have bothered us if we hadn't been so carefree in dropping so many earlier in the season.

You mean crap?

Is anyone still thinking we would easily find a buyer?

That post shows there are multiple parties willing to buy Wednesday.

That's the spirit EFL. Screw them proper the cheating gits.

That will teach the fans for supporting a club buying it's way to success.

You aren’t buying a club if you are refusing to pay money for a club are you? Or have I misunderstood?

The sale of the club will proceed with one of the preferred buyers. The EFL will impose a 15-point penalty next season because the active bidders don’t want to pay Chansiri 25% of the amount he loaned the club that wasn’t converted into share capital (on top of what those bidders are prepared to spend to purchase the club).

We have heard nothing further on both ours and the Premier Leagues appear into our 6 point deduction.

That could still be massive at the end of the season.

The cynical side of me wonders if they are half hoping we get into a position where they can show they’ve increase it, however we are slightly higher up the table, therefore it doesn’t impact us.

That seems wrong to me. The sale of the club and the details of what the seller is willing to accept shouldn’t really be any of the EFL’s business. As long as the buyers pass any fit and proper testing it’s between the two parties negotiating. If Chansiri ends up out of pocket then f*** him. If it were unpaid staff/tax etc that would be different.

Good point, I don’t know what the rules are regarding staff or contractors that are doing business with clubs going through this process.

Those suggesting we couldn’t find a buyer may be misguided, especially when we see that Wednesday will soon change hands, even after Chansiri’s absurd management of the club.

Meanwhile in other news London media darlings West Ham cheat by getting a loan from a company that doesn't exist. They are going after the wrong teams, deliberately it seems.

This shit is just absolutely disgusting tbh.

At this point to continue to punish the club instead of the owners is disgusting.

Football needs a better way of holding billionaires accountable instead of the organisation.

I agree.

But, regarding this part, how can they - especially if the organisation is not corrupt-free themselves?

Why don’t the EFL pay Chansiri his £15 million if they’re that bothered! It’s their fault for letting people like him own clubs in the first place so god forbid they take any responsibility.

Oh no let’s just continue to punish the clubs and fans further whilst pretending they actually care about the clubs rather than the reality which is they don’t give a f*** if a historic club like Sheffield Wednesday go under!

Why is that cynical? That sounds very positive. Too positive for this forum, be gone with you

Another of those rules that probably has decent intentions but catches the wrong club.

The right rule would be a UEFA wide salary cap for all leagues. It sort of levels the playing field as well.

The Premier League greedy six are never going to agree to it being introduced though. Football isn’t played on a level playing field.

If you consider the team that finishes bottom of the Premier League still gets you around £100m in TV revenue alone. Barca / Madrid only get £150m, Bayern £80m, PSG - £60m from domestic TV rights. Champions League inflates that massively obviously and that’s why they’ll never agree to it. Similar to the reasons they’d never let Celtic / Rangers join the EPL.

I do like the idea of a bond that others have mentioned before.

Agreed. I find the whole thing bizarre. PSR is supposed to protect clubs from bad owners and here the EFL want to punish the club if the bad owner doesn't get rewarded,

Who's more corrupt?
