It has become such a data driven game. I was at a conference a few years ago where the coach explained that the chance of scoring leaving one man up was so statistically low, you would need to leave two men up for it to be viable. However, leaving 2 players up impacts the chance that you are likely to concede more significantly. I remember thinking at the time surely the more men you leave up the more the opposition will keep back to defend so it would balance out.

 

I think I remember seeing Kidderminster left 4 up at a corner last weekend, thats the kind of craziness I want to see in the game.

That’s the kind of tactic that would really unsettle an opposition… especially if it was rotated, sometimes 2/3/4 with no pattern …. The opposition would often have an extra 1/2/3 players held back.

 

It’s probably looked down on by “pro” coaches as a bit Sunday league

Fatawu is ok defensively … but Daka / Mavididi offer next to nothing so there pace on the halfway line would guarantee 3 defenders with them… we then have an extra man in our box. Seems so simple a tactic
