I always look at where would we be if Maddison had scored the penalty against Everton in 22/23 season and stayed up

We'd have blown the second half even if he scored.

If the Castagne chance went in at Newcastle... that might've changed history (tho I suspect we'd have bottled the west ham game had anything been riding on it)

For a team that hasn't " created much" we've scored an awful lot of goals

It's a bit chicken and egg. When you have a good centre forward you often create more chances. We've had Ayew upfront for most of the season, who doesn't bring others into play, who doesn't win enough aerial duals and who doesn't stretch defenses with movement. Imagine how many chances we could create and how many goals we could score.

Still relegated eventually, the road under the current management was always going to end up in relegation. We sign too many poor players, on vastly inflated wages, for vastly inflated fees to continue to survive year after year.

If nothing changes it'll be the same in this division as well, we make too many poor decisions as a club to be successful long term.

Eventually sure, but that next season we could have had a points deduction and still stayed up and would be done with all the legal soul draining nonsense.

That season was a free pass for any club towards the bottom.

Not only did Madders miss the penalty , he made that dreadful back pass against Bournemouth without looking and we lost the game 1 0

Also had 20 plus goal contributions that season that kept us in it. If Brendan Rodgers hadnt taken Dewsbury Hall off first game of the season against Brentford and sabotaged the win we should of had..

Or played Danny Ward and Daniel Amartey for 3/4s of the season

If we could have retained any player from last season I think Ndidi would have made the most difference

I think the bigger mistake was selling Kasper.

Agreed. Though I think given the passage of time between Kasper and Vardy leaving, that’s a pretty obvious call too.

I’ve said previously (but recently) how none of what’s happened would’ve happened with Kasper here. From Ward being in goal, to the attitude of the entire squad the last two years (and beyond) Kasper, much like his Dad’ kept the standards high

As for Vardy- He’s had 0 service at Cremonese and would’ve had zero service here too.

Interesting take. I think he’d have had a poor season personally.  I wouldn’t say he’d be a big upgrade on skipp or winks in his current state.

He wins the ball somewhere between 2-3x as often as those do

…we’d been ambitiously & well lead in the January window of 2019-20. Our decline, for me, is traceable back to that window.

Second in the league in mid-December, Brendan’s team had played the best football I’ve ever seen from a Leicester team that autumn. But our squad lacked depth & was more vulnerable than our rivals’ to injuries.

The answer, from our owner & DoF, was a deadline day loan signing of Ryan Bennett.

We recovered admirably in January & February from the complete eviscerations by Man C & Liverpool over the Christmas period, and should have finished third.

Instead, we won just two of our last ten, post-lockdown games, to finish fifth. We never looked like a really competitive top team again, IMO.

The area around the King Power Stadium right now, if Danny Ward's Mum had run off with the Milkman instead of lying underneath Danny Ward's Dad for 30 seconds in late 1992:

100%! We never would have got relegated that season with him in goal.

Vardy's 1:5  goals to games ratio at Cremo is about the same as Iheancho's eas when he was here....

And Iheanacho was almost as bad as Badbuy.

Just saying.
