How exactly are we planning to attract a coach from European Football to league one?

thats my thoughts too, given NEC are third atm ahead of Ajax....

wouldnt shock me if he went to one of the bigger clubs in Holland within the next year

he looks the type we'd need on paper but i doubt he'd come

Yeah he's building up his career nicely, lower dutch leagues, moved up, surely like you say the next move is an Ajax or German league move.

Fair play to him if he backs himself to build here though!

What's he getting paid by the fa?

He was reportedly on £300k receiving a pay rise in 2024, so perhaps £350k/£400k now?

Incredible coup if it were to happen. Share the scepticism of others of why he’d sack European football for us though - despite being of the opinion we have a lot more pull than many of our fans think right now.

Maybe if it was the old style European football, smaller groups, tougher draws etc. But the way Europa/Conference League is structured now there's every chance you make it through to a knockout phase.

I just can't see it lol

So vastly different from the profile of any manager we have considered previously.

I'm all for it, have no idea if his style would work but it would certainly be different to the other rubbish we've had.

I wonder if this is an early sign of a change in direction led by McCaron?

The source is questionable and it doesn’t fit the mould of how we do things, so I’m calling BS on this until proven otherwise.

Yep agree, though you hope McCarron has a bit of an idea and more contact and open to change.

As far as Club size goes, We dwarf NEC

We’ve the far bigger fan base, stadium, world class training facility to boot and also, something that talks quite often the most, is Money, Dick might be trying too finish in a CL Spot for CL football next season, but I dare say even in League 1  we’d be able too pay far more money

Thats pretty much all NEC has going for them, the fact they are playing for Champions League football next season, quite a big thing mind lol

Get him in our dreamy training facilities McCarron, offer him double his money, sell the vision of getting back too the premier league, he’ll sign on the line quicker than a quick thing from quick land

I guess it comes down to whether we're going to continue in the same mould (which has led to successive failures and our worst ever season) or try something different. I understand why many remain cynical, but maybe the appointments of McCarron and Davies really did signal a change of approach after all...

As others have pointed out, Carsley might be a shout, I think the jobs he's been linked with so far are typically lower champ clubs, I think for where we were 12 months ago it was probably too much of a risk on an unknown, up and coming manager, but Carsley would play the youth which is something we need to do, and League 1 you'd hope would be a good starting point for both of us for a rebuild, it hopefully takes the immediate "risk" factor away as its clear he has potential as a manager, but needs a team to take a gamble on him transitioning to club football, maybe this is the perfect opportunity for that. I'd imagine that he would also have decent relationships with prem clubs who need to loan players out too.

Could be the right manager at the right time.

I think he will be out of our reach now. Should have gone for him last season, I really rate him. But what I will say, is that just because someone manages an under 21 side that doesn’t mean they will play youth.  He has to play youth in that because it’s his job but as cooper proved, when they have the option… that might not translate.

Is there evidence of him playing a younger player with more promise but maybe not as immediately good for the under 21s? Or did he stick to the the older options?  I’m sure someone would know because that’s the bigger indicator. It he was happily having an 18/19 year old in the u21s then he’s more likely to take a gamble.
