No point throwing money at Martin when cash is so short for players. Last thing Leicester needs is slow possession based football with no money for strikers etc. Surprised we didn’t go for the Lincoln manager

We’ve learnt absolutely nothing in recent years if reports are true with Martin. 
Throwing money at that arrogant ***** shows once again how clueless we are. 
Just like previous summers with Rohl and Corberan we should be going for Challinor and paying the compensation for him.

Surely by now even Russell Martin must know that noone wants Russell Martin. Not a single follower of football will be saying 'that's exactly what i need' for any club. 

 

How he is in the running for anything is mind boggling.

Wonder if the club will want Kasper involved in a back room team now he’s announced retirement. Would certainly demand the standards needed! Unsure if he will want to go down that route though?

Martyn Glover worked with Martin at Southampton and is a massive fan of his. He was apparently advocating very strongly for Martin before we appointed Cifuentes, and probably has been doing so again. He’ll be behind this if it’s true.

Everyone working at any senior level at any club is on the make in some capacity.

Sure—I wasn’t disagreeing with you. Just pointing out why it’s plausible we might actually go for this clown despite him being an incredibly unpopular choice with the fans.

Glover is a clown as much as Rudkin and Aiya****. The man has signed one and half players of ok quality in his time here. He as head of recruitment has filled the squad with over paid weak cowards. It’s why the new DOF is just an additional problem not a solution.

Everyone uses agents who are their mates, and they all get commission on these massive deals no matter what happens. Its when you find out players like Ayew get appearance bonus and all those involved in the deal benefit from that you realise its all corrupt. 

 

If Top had any sense, he would immediately push back on any internal or agent recommendations. 

 

But we have a board room that are impressed by Powerpoint, not actual data.

Not had a Season Ticket for years and probably it gets worse, before it gets better, by going into Administration and ridding us of these parasites.

I can’t say I’ve ever paid much attention to the bloke as a personality but I’m aware of clubs where he’s tanked them, but also I’m aware he’s got a promotion on his cv too

 

So I to would be interested in the hatred towards him, I can understand dislike of his managerial credentials and style perhaps, so I’m intrigued as to where the hatred stems from?

 

and for the record, I wouldn’t be overjoyed with the appointment looking into what he’s done at other clubs regardless of his Southampton promotion success.

An RM appointment has Aiyatwatt written all over it. The little weasel has had a hardon for Brussellball and possession based football for ages. It will be his final indignity when it fails spectacularly in League One.

Complete tactical inflexibility, throws everybody else under the bus when things don’t go well whilst refusing any personal accountability, boring football, unnecessarily arrogant.

The problem with Martin, realistically, I think, is that for Southampton promotion was the target and, yes, he achieved that but they were at times very inflexible, naive defensively and got battered a few times, not least by us.

 

Once in the Premier League, he oversaw an almost record breakingly bad season.

 

Then he woefully underachieved at Rangers and, before Southampton, he was a bit meh at MK Dons and Swansea in terms of results.

 

So the signs are that he isn't quite as good as he thinks and it's the controlling, possession-based football, which many fans have turned and are turning against, that is getting him decent jobs.

 

At some clubs, it might work. But the signs are that he's less able to implement it effectively than he thinks.

 

Because of all that, a huge proportion of our fans won't want him here. And sometimes that gets whipped up into exaggerated hatred and piss taking about him personally.

His football marries being completely unable to defend with being completely unable to build any sort of attack without his entire 11 in the opposition half. Also king of giving away stupid unnecessary goals. His time at Rangers was catastrophic as was his time in the prem with Southampton. Extremely short sighted appointment as he will be alright as long as he has the best team in the league, but when we get promoted out of our teams depth we will be found out and won’t have the squad available to change our set up- basically what it has been the past 3 years

Aiyawatt has a thing for archaic, boring posession football because he hasn’t realised the game has moved on.

 

Rudkin is clearly seen as unserious, so seems to rely on Glover’s connections. 

 

This is why we’ve essentially become a bottom feeder for Saints. Anything that has been through there has a higher likelihood of turning up here.

I don’t want Martin, but if it is him I won’t be booing etc… straight the way.

 

Though he’ll have to have a cracking start or it will turn ugly very quickly.
