Ill be honest here and say i dont know a great deal about teams in league 1, but ive seen many people on fb suggesting Luton will win the league. Anyone know if Luton actually have a decent side as they didn't do particularly well last season.

If you look at their squad, on paper they have some quite recognisable 'names'. They have better squad (on paper) than everyone baring us.

Wilshire has already won a trophy with them, and he talks a good game too. Seems to me to know what he's doing, and he's doing it.

I think Luton and us will be the two to look for automatics.

Sheff Wed will need to get it together once they inevitably sack their current shite manager, probably after the first few games haven't gone their way.

The "Not The Top 20" pod have us finishing 3rd in their predictions and not speaking glowlingly at all about our signings, Burns and Chaplin in particular.

I will eat shit if we finish in the auto places this season.  It’s absolutely not going to happen. Where are our 70+ goals coming from in order to achieve that?  
 

we may scrape playoffs but even then, for me that’s a push. 
 

we’ve gotten rid of a load of deadwood, and replaced it with over the hill or hasbeens for a season or two. 
 

you just hope they don’t pull down the couple of good young talents we have.  But seeing how that went with Monga last season and freezing out other players who were obviously ready to play, I don’t have high hopes.

Just scored, had a disallowed goal earlier but barely in it.

After watching the pre-season friendlies & seeing the youngsters with their pace, energy & positivity, I was actually looking forward to the Northampton game, a feeling I've not had for some time.

 

This new wave of enthusiasm was quickly extinguished when I saw the team with Thomas, Reid & Mavadidi playing & my thoughts were this is just like last season when the youngsters did well in pre season only to be never seen again.

The performance confirmed these fears, slow, turgid football & passing to no purpose, it was awful & no different to last season. How Martin could say he was very happy beggers belief.

 

So, I'm afraid I have no optimism for this season unless we can shift out the usual suspects & get the youngsters like Aluko, Hutchinson, Neale, Alves, Braybrooke fully involved in the matchday squad. Unfortunately, I very much doubt this will happen as we cannot get rid of Okoli, Thomas, Choudhary, Skipp, Reid, Mavadidi, Faes. Most of them will still be around & in the matchday squad thus meaning the verve & energy we badly need from the young players will not be seen
