If he struggles at the start of the season its a good excuse to sack him and get someone who might challenge for the european places.

They could get drawn into it but won’t go down, I think the three promoted teams are all very weak and will struggle. 
 

I think Villa are gonna struggle too. They’ve lost arguably their two best players in Tielemans & Rogers, as well as Digne on his way out. Manzambi looked decent at the World Cup but will he be suited to the prem? They’ve got champions league to consider as well.

Ipswich seem to be the only ones having a go at staying up, though their business doesn't look particularly great. Cov and Hull haven't been very active so far, unless they go mad on transfers in August they'll struggle.

He was assistant to Zorniger at Brøndby IF a few years ago, I think. Coincidentally, Zorniger has just been sacked by Odense BK today as well.

Very late into preseason, assume the selling of the big names, no replacements and he's realised there's no point

They look every bit like us pre relegation. Probably stay up because they’ve got rid unlike us clinging on to Brendan.

Been coming I think as seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction with the current situation particularly from Howe himself.

 

Looks like the next appointment has been lined up already too - from Saudi .

Overall Howe did very well at Newcastle. It had however become clear that it run its course. He's done the right thing for himself as much as anything. I wonder what's next for him. If the England job was available, he'd be the only viable English candidate.

Howe got through 3 directors of football and I think probably wanted to get rid of another but this time it was him who has left. 

 

He wants full control and i'm just not sure he'll get that at many clubs these days! 

 

England might come to some sort of agreement with Tuchel if they feel like this is their best chance of getting Howe.

The FA approached him previously so definitely an option.

It just looked like it had run its course. Still, one trophy, another final and two Champions League qualifications in four years isn't bad.

Came to say exactly this. It's a good year for a 'down' year I think as I really can't see the promoted trio doing a lot. I've similar concerns with Fulham but I just don't envisage any of the promoted trio getting above them either.

It is often overlooked in these situations that, far from being ungrateful or whichever other phrase, a parting of the ways preserves the legacy and keeps most of the memories positive. Successful reigns can dip or turn stale, it isn't the end of the world to just say "Yeah, we both need a new start".

Should have come to that agreement in May when they first spoke about it though!
