On nothing but a hunch, but I think this goes one of two ways.

He jacks it after the transfer window and walks..Or,.he has a 'road to Damascus' moment, and starts to manage pragmatically (which I think he's well capable of)

Do managers jacl it in now? Feels like they may well have but not now the money is too big.

He's just not a good manager

I genuinely don't understand what any clubs see in him

The position of his clubs at the end of the season/time of him leaving have been

18th in League 1

13th in League 1

15th in the Championship

10th in the Championship

4th in the Championship

20th in the Premier League

8th in the Scottish Prem

So once he has had a successful season and even then they were the lowest of the 3 relegated teams and 9 points off automatic promotion

Over his career he actually has a negative goal difference despite his entire philosophy being to control possession

You have to admit .... its a pretty impressive record of failure and still keep getting decent jobs ....

ironically RvN did at PSV over board betrayal, and I'd rate his time here far more highly if he stuck to that and had just fully put this board in the headlights in our sporting press.

Think the club & Martin have completely underestimated this league. Ironic, given the comments he makes about humility.

They haven’t given him players to make his style of football work. Which is unsurprising.

Even if you put his recent failings to one side, not that should but let’s do that for now, simply stylistically alone, it’s another extremely dumb appointment from the club unless you are going to invest in it, which they have not.

Early days I guess but in scrambling past a poor League Two side and drawing with County and losing to Burton it doesn’t look very good.

Clueless “ Directors of Football” and pusillanimous owners cannot risk working with strong characters likely to challenge them hence the procession of bozos we’ve taken on of late . Might have to wait for this lot to leave before a proper football club culture descends on the club

it’s completely the wrong time to try and clamor drastic changes to your style of play. You really should only be doing it when the manager is able to  ring his own players in

The problem is, they think they have given him the players to make this style of play work

If he had any ability at all he would be playing a style that suits the players we have. Then the squad could be adapted with time to the style he wants.

As I said, if.

You would also assume that a manager with half a clue would be able to adapt and have many options for each opponent.

It is hubris, stupidity and laziness to just have one tactic and stick to it contrary to the outcome. We haven’t got eye players so the manager should be the one to change to get the best out of his options.

In fairness though why bring a manager who is renowned for playing a particular way, and not give him the tools to do so. I genuinely believe Top and Rudkin think they have provided the goods because they are imbeciles. If Martin were any good, he wouldn't be here, and its unlikely that any other good manager would want to work under these clowns either.

Dave Challinor would've surely been the logical answer here rather than Martin but either Top and co. didn't like him or his more pragmatic/direct style of football or he himself didn't fancy the gig, having seen all the shenanigans of the past two seasons going on! As the poster above said any decent manager would probably steer clear!

Ange Postcoglou probably would've been a great fit.

Direct football and wouldn't be afraid of speaking up against any authority decisions.

Fits with our no defence methodology.

Russell Martin is the perfect fit for Leicester, he has failed everywhere he has been. his football makes zero sense, he's the David Brent of football managers. and this is why he's the perfect fit for Leicester and Top, Top has admired Martin for a fair few years now we have been linked with him a few times and only now when Martins stock is on his arse and so is Leicesters, top thinks its a great idea to employ this incompetent clown, and by the looks of it give him free rain of the club. any Leicester fan with a cell of footballing knowledge knew this appointment was never going to work. he will only drag this club further into trouble. this appointment has to be up there with the worst appointment this club has ever made. god help this club because under top and martin we will be going to league 2. I really hope I'm wrong  but from the way he's already talking he's massively in denial on what the problems are with this team. I honestly believe you could give him 100m in this league and he would still send us down. until King Power sell, these are the appointments and mismanagement we are going to have to suffer.

I bet his missus is frustrated, his foreplay must last for days.

Wouldn’t it be more like he’s five minutes into foreplay and then suddenly blows his load for no apparent reason?

Martin won't change his style. Given time he'll recruit to fit it, but he won't change it.

His issue with Southampton was that promotion was too big a step and his players aren't good enough to do it when they are among the worst team in the league. With us at MK he had 4 transfer windows and we steadily improved after each... though he didn't actually see it through after the 4th one with his squad and a few changes to the style we came 3rd in League 1.

But, and rightfully so, you guys don't have the patience required to allow him to work, and he'll just do his reputation even more damage to your detriment. That's something that given how much I detest him for his actions at the end of his spell here, I am very excited to see (sorry guys!)

The biggest worry is the two players he worked with before look ill-fitted to how he wants to play.
