USA vs Aus at 8pm

Scotland vs Morocco at 11pm.

If anything they've screwed over the US with a match on at their lunchtime

I thought that too but a slight counter is that it's a federal holiday today, Juneteenth. Seems more public sector and not every state but should be people about

You mean you don't want to set your alarm for 3am, get up really excitedly to watch France playing Brazil only to turn on and catch the last half hour of a drab draw between Uzbekistan and like the Cayman Islands or something?

Everyone wrote this off but it looks like it could be one of the best World Cups for ages.

Fans are loving it

The fans that can afford it (or even just those that can get a visa) are loving it.

It was always going to present as a good world cup because America has the infrastructure needed to host it properly. Even if pitches are terrible.

But only the good and the great or those that have spent their last penny have got tickets.

FIFA's greed goes hand in glove with America's "big number good" mindset.

Assuming we win the group why is it that we'll likely be playing Mexico who are also likely topping their group? Surely if we win the group we play a 2nd/3rd place team as the reward?

Mexico are a possible last 16 opponent for England if they both win their groups.

England will play a 3rd placed team in the last 32 if they win their group.

As for affordability, it's a question of supply and demand. As we've heard of late, FIFA couldn't sell all their tickets, so prices dropped.

Nobody's forcing you to buy a 2000+ USD ticket. These prices aren't exactly new.

Also, if you're looking at experiencing a World Cup, that leaves you about three to four years in between tournaments to save enough money for tickets, the trip as well as expenses. In the end, it's a matter of budgeting. For many, it'll probably remain a one-off experience of a lifetime.

Imagine what it'd be like hosting a World Cup in Europe right now, it's even more expensive for Americans, Canadians and pretty much every other country. Have you checked the exchange rates recently?

As for the visa, it works both ways.

I've mentioned this previously, but not a lot of complaints from fans with regards to traveling to Qatar or Russia in recent years...

I wonder how previous WC ticket prices compare adjusted for inflation (and income).
